World Health Organization (WHO) declared every year July 28th as World Hepatitis Day. Hepatitis is one of the dangerous and infectious disease that is suffering millions of people from many years across the world.
Theme of 2015 Hepatitis day is “Prevent Hepatitis:It’s upto u”
Hepatitis is a disease which severely effects liver causing liver cancer.There are six different hepatitis like A,B,C,D,E,G.Among these mostly the cases deal with hepatitis A,B,C and hepatitis G does not cause infection and just cause illness
Asia pacific is the epicenter of the hepatitis disease, with one million people dying from hepatitis every year-70% according to global polls
WHO about Hepatitis:
The World Health organization(WHO) has taken the first steps to fight viral hepatits it has released the global Health sector strategy for viral Hepatitis 2016-2021.
This year WHO’s flag ship event takes place in Egypt a country that has world’s highest hepatitis cases.Recently WHO highlighted the urgent need for many countries which are affected with this disease to take action to prevent viral hepatitis infection and ensured that people who have been infected should be diagonised and should be offered treatment.This year who is concentrating more on hepatitis B and C which are causing many deaths among the world
WHO recommends vaccinating all children against hepatitis B infection which shows nearly 780000 people die each year.
According to WHO the following are the priority areas in the action plan to prevent viral hepatitis:
• Bringing broad awareness about disease
• Stopping transmission
• Accessible and effective hepatitis treatment
• Evidence-informed policy to guide comprehensive hepatitis action
• Accessible and affective hepatits treatment
