RRB NTPC Syllabus 2021: Railway Recruitment Board is conducting the RRB NTPC exam to fill various positions in Non-Technical Popular Categories (NTPC). RRB NTPC Syllabus & Exam Pattern 2021:

Aspirants should be aware of the updated exam pattern before starting their preparation. So candidates are advised to refer the RRB NTPC exam syllabus & pattern before viewing the syllabus. We have also listed the selection process of RRB NTPC Exam 2021.

Selection Procedure:

RRB NTPC Exam selection involves 4 steps as follows. The Typing Test and Computer Based Aptitude Test will be conducted only for specific posts.

  1. Computer-Based Exam (1st Stage)
  2. Computer-Based Exam (2nd Stage)
  3. Typing Test and Computer Based Aptitude Test (as applicable)
  4. Document Verification
  5. Medical Examination

RRB NTPC Exam Pattern: CBT Stage 1

The online examination comprises of two stages stage-I and stage-II.

CBT Stage 1: Exam Pattern

  • The Questions will be of objective type with multiple choices.
  • There will be a negative marking, 1/3 Marks will be deducted for each wrong answer.
  • No marks will be deducted for a question left unanswered.
  • The exam duration will be 120 minutes for PwBD candidates.

CBT Stage 1: Syllabus

a. Mathematics:

  • Number System, Decimals, Fractions, LCM, HCF, Ratio and Proportions, Percentage, Mensuration, Time and Work, Time and Distance, Simple and Compound Interest, Profit and Loss, Elementary Algebra, Geometry and Trigonometry, Elementary Statistics etc.

b. General Intelligence and Reasoning:

  • Analogies, Completion of Number and Alphabetical Series, Coding and Decoding, Mathematical Operations, Similarities and Differences, Relationships, Analytical Reasoning, Syllogism, Jumbling, Venn Diagrams, Puzzle, Data Sufficiency, Statement- Conclusion, Statement- Courses of Action, Decision Making, Maps, Interpretation of Graphs etc.

c. General Awareness:

  • Current Events of National and International Importance, Games and Sports, Art and Culture of India, Indian Literature, Monuments and Places of India, General Science and Life Science (up to 10th CBSE), History of India and Freedom Struggle, Physical, Social and Economic Geography of India and World, Indian Polity and Governance- constitution and political system, General Scientific and Technological Developments including Space and Nuclear Program of India, UN and Other important World Organizations, Environmental Issues Concerning India and World at Large, Basics of Computers and Computer Applications, Common Abbreviations, Transport Systems in India, Indian Economy, Famous Personalities of India and World, Flagship Government Programs, Flora and Fauna of India, Important Government and Public Sector Organizations of India etc.

Candidates will be shortlisted for CBT stage 2 based on the scores secured in CBT Stage 1.

Computer Based Aptitude Test (CBAT):

The Computer Based Aptitude Test will be conducted only for candidates who have opted for Traffic Assistant and Station Master.

  • There will be no negative marking in CBAT.
  • The CBAT questions and answer options will be only in English and Hindi.

Typing Skill Test (TST):

The Typing Skill Test will be conducted to the following posts such as Senior Clerk cum Typist, Junior Accounts Assistant cum Typist, Senior Time Keeper, Junior Clerk cum Typist, Accounts Clerk cum Typist and Junior Time Keeper. The candidates should be able to type 30 words per minute (WPM) in English or 25 WPM in Hindi on Personal Computer only.

Document Verification (DV):

Based on the performance of candidates in both 2nd Stage CBT and CBAT/TST, candidates equal to the number of vacancies will be called for Document Verification as per their merit and options. Selected candidates will undergo a Medical Fitness Test to be conducted by the Railway Administration. Candidates who clear the medical test will be appointed for the posts.
