WEF: India stood at 90th rank in terms of Energy Security

In accordance with the Global Energy Architecture Performance Index Report compiled by WEF, India has been ranked at the 90th place in a list of 126 countries.

  • The report prepared in collaboration with Accenture.

The countries have been ranked on the premises on their ability to provide energy access across three dimensions of the “energy triangle” i.e. affordability, environmental sustainability & security and access.

  • Among the BRIC nations, Brazil led the list as by positioned at the 25th It is followed by Russia (52nd), India (90th) and China (94th).

Fuel Trade patterns
As per report, fuel trade patterns have dramatically changed especially in Asia which accounted for less than 20% of the world fuel trades in 2004 but this figure has sharply risen to 35% in 2014, leading to a redistribution of forces and new alliances around the world.

  • By 2040, China’s net oil imports will be 5 times those of the United States while India’s will easily exceed EU.
