A well with 20 m inside diameter is dug 25 m deep. The earth taken out of it has been evenly spread all around it to a width of 5 m to form an embankment. Find the height of the embankment.

Correct

Answer: 5. 20 m Solution:
Volume of soil taken out = Volume of embankment
let height of embankment be ‘h’ and radius of embankment = 10+5 =15
Then pi*10^2*25 = pi*(15^2 – 10^2)*h
h = 20 m

Correct

Answer: 3. 2:1 Solution:
Let number of Apples initially be 4x, 5x, 6x
Increased Apples be 6y, 5y, 4y
there is no change in third basket then 6x =4y
Let number of apples increased in basket 1 be A
4x+A = 6y
A =5x
Let number of apples increased in basket 2 be B
5x+B = 5y
B =5x/2
ratio = 2:1

Incorrect

Answer: 3. 2:1 Solution:
Let number of Apples initially be 4x, 5x, 6x
Increased Apples be 6y, 5y, 4y
there is no change in third basket then 6x =4y
Let number of apples increased in basket 1 be A
4x+A = 6y

What is the time taken for the man to cross the river upstream by steamer and then return to same place by boat half the way and by steamer the rest of the way?

Correct

Answer :1. 80 min Solution:
Time taken by streamer Down Stream = 30 min
Up Stream time is 50% more = 45 min
Time taken by boat Down Stream = 40 min
Up Stream time is 50% more = 60 min
total time = 45+20+15 =80 min
