On 11th May 2020, The Department of Consumer Affairs partnered with two tech startups Safejob and Seekify to use the technology in the local Kirana store level to control the spread of COVID-19. The initiative of Suraksha Store is to provide safety and care about the health of the people during and after the lockdown due to COVID-19 pandemic.
Key Points:
i.The initiative is to educate the owners and employees of the Kirana stores across the nation about the safety guidelines about the COVID-19 and protocols to be followed while running the store.
ii.These protocols were designed by the Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI) Â and the Ministry of Home Affairs(MHA) which includes the social distancing and hygiene at all the retail shops.
iii.This initiative allows the consumers to use the Aarogya Setu App to dine the nearest Suraksha Store.
iv.Seekify is a Sequoia’s Surge Funded company, with an online learning software partnered with Safejob, an NSDC partner and training expert and build a custom solution for registering the owners, employees and the locations of the Kirana stores and provide them online training and certification over the mobile with rural and low bandwidth areas.
v.Safejob developed and launched the training materials and assessment to certify the awareness of the Suraksha norms are available in 8 languages
vi.More than 5 Lakh stores are registered within a week of launch with currently 7 lakh retailers enrolled for the training and over 70K Kirana employees have completed the training.
