Khelo India Community Coach Development programmeOn June 2, 2020 Union Minister of Youth Affairs and Sports, Kiren Rijiju inaugurated & launched a 25 day Khelo India Community Coach Development programme, an online development programme to equip 15,000 Physical Education(PE) Teachers and community coaches across India to train students to take up fitness and sport as a way of life.

  • This program aims to boost India’s objective of becoming a sporting nation

Major Highlights of the programme

i.The course module will enable PE teachers and community coaches with knowledge and skills to  help children(all ages) to take up a variety of fitness-related activities and conduct age-appropriate fitness tests.

ii.Regular sessions will be conducted by eminent educationists in the field of fitness and physical education.

iii.The Ministry of Human Resource Development(HRD) & the sports ministry ensures to take this programme to every school in India.

iv.The programme is in line with the vision of Prime Minister Narendra Modi to make India a fit country, with aspects like age-specific fitness tests and activities have been included in the programme module.

International experts who will interact throughout the programme-  Isac Doru, Sporting Director, Yokohoma F Marinos, Japan, Oleksandr Krasilshchikov, School Of Health Sciences University Sains Malaysia, Pedro G, President International Society of Comparative Studies of Physical Education and Sport, Swarup Mukherjee & Associate Professor Nanyang Technological University, Singapore among others.

Guest speakers in the inaugural session- Professor Rosa Lopez De’Amico, president of the International Association of Physical Education and Sport for Girls and Women, and Professor Darlene Kluka, vice president of the International Council of Sport Science and Physical Education.
