    A. 2
    B. 3
    C. 4
    D. 5
    C. 4
    Explanation:
    Let A left after ‘x’ days. B completed remaining work in 6 4/5 days or 34/5 days. So,
    (1/10 + 1/18) * x + 1/18 * 34/5 = 1
    Find x

  2. A does a work in 10 days and B does the same work in 18 days. They started the work alternately starting with A. After how many days the work will be completed?
    A. 12 days
    B. 12 2/3 days
    C. 20 2/3 days
    D. 24 days
    B. 12 2/3 days
    LCM (10, 18) = 90
    So total work = 90
    A’s efficiency = 90/10 = 9
    B’s efficiency = 90/18 = 5
    2 days work (A+B) = 9+5 = 14
    Multiply by 6 both side
    12 days work (A+B) = 84
    Remaining work = 90-84 = 6
    Now A’s turn, he will complete remaining work in 6/9 or 2/3 day
    So total 12 2/3 days.

  3. Rs 7000 is deposited in two schemes, one part at 6% per annum and other at 4% per annum. After 5 years, the total interest on both the schemes becomes Rs 1600. Find the amount deposited with 6% per annum?
    A. Rs 1000
    B. Rs 2000
    C. Rs 4000
    D. Rs 5000
    B. Rs 2000
    Explanation:
    Find the rate % of 5 yrs:
    1600 = 7000*r*5 / 100, this gives r = 32/7%
    By the method of allegation:
    6                                               4
    .                              32/7
    32/7 – 4 = 4/7                            6 – 32/7 = 10/7
    4/7 : 10/7 or 2 : 5
    Amount at 6% = 2/(2+5) * 7000 = 2000

  4. An article is bought at an amount of Rs 840. 1/4th of it is sold at 20% loss, find the profit percent on remaining part such that there is a profit of 20% on the whole?
    A. 33 1/3%
    B. 33%
    C. 25%
    D. 20%
    A. 33 1/3%
    Explanation:
    Remaining part = 1- 1/4 = 3/4
    1/4(-20) + 3/4(x) = 20
    Find x

  5. A train travelling at 25 km/hr leaves Delhi at 9 AM and another train travelling at 35 km/hr starts at 2 PM in the same direction. How many km form Delhi will they be together?
    A. 440 km
    B. 400 km
    C. 437 ½ km
    D. 400 ½ km
    C. 437 ½ km
    Explanation:
    Distance = (S1*S2)/[(S1-S2)t]
    Difference in time = 2Pm – 9AM = 5 hrs
    Distance = (25*35)/[(35-25)*5] = 437 ½ km

  6. A man covers a certain distance between his house and office. If his average speed is 20 km/hr, he is late by 10 min and if his average speed is 50 km/hr, he reaches 20 min early. Find the distance between his house and office?
    A. 50 km
    B. 50/3 km
    C. 55 km
    D. 56/7 km
    B. 50/3 km
    Explanation:
    Distance = (S1*S2)/[(S1-S2)t]
    Difference in time = (10)late – (-20)early = 30 min or 1/2 hr
    Distance = (20*50)/[(50-20)*1/2] = 50/3 km

    D. Rs 4.50
    B. Rs 4
    Explanation:
    C.P. of 80 kg – S.P. of 80 kg = S.P. of 16 kg
    C.P. of 80 kg = S.P. of 96 kg
    Find loss%, loss% = (96-80)/96 * 100 = 50/3*
    Find S.P. per kg

    .        0
    8               12
    8 : 12 or 2 : 3
    CP of 1st cow = 2/(2+3) * 500 = 200
    SP = 88/100 * 200 = 176
