The Industrial Credit and Investment Corporation of India (ICICI) Bank has launched its own version of Digital Village Project by adopting entire Akodara Village in Sabarkantha district of Gujarat. This project will provide services ranging from cashless banking to digitised school teaching.
The new ‘digital village’ project was announced with ICICI Bank MD and CEO Chanda Kochar and Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s presence at a function held at the bank’s headquarters in Mumbai.
The dedication of ICICI Digital Village to the nation marks ICICI Group’s 60 years of existence. The Group completed it’s 60 years on January 5, 2015.
The digital village initiative has three dimensions.
- The first dimension is to enhance access to banking and provide seamless banking services.
- The second dimension is to leverage technology in the social sectors for improvement in the lives of the villagers.
- The third dimension is to create enabling infrastructure to make technology available, and access and disseminate information.
