  1. A and B can complete a piece of work in 10 and 16 days respectively. They both start working, and after working for 4 days, A left. What is the total number of day for which B worked?
    A) 35 days
    B) 40 days
    C) 28/5 days
    D) 48 days
    E) 48/5 days
    E) 48/5 days
    Explanation:

    A+B 1 day work = 1/10 + 1/16 = 13/80
    They worked for 4 days, so work done in 4 days = 4 * 13/80 = 13/20
    Work left = 1 – 13/20 = 7/20
    B does 1/16 work in 1 day so 7/20 work in 7/20 * 16/1 = 28/5 days
    So total 4 + 28/5

  2. There are 5 white, 5 black and 5 green balls in a bag. Three balls are drawn at random. What is the probability that 2 are green
    A) 19/91
    B) 20/91
    C) 21/50
    D) 19/35
    E) 20/81
    B) 20/91
    Explanation:

    5C2 * 10C1/15C3

  3. Two articles costs Rs 18,000. One of them is sold at 20% profit and other at 20% loss. It is found that the selling price of both articles is same. Find the ratio of the cost price of 1st article to 2nd article.
    A) 2 : 5
    B) 3 : 2
    C) 2 : 3
    D) 1 : 4
    E) 1 : 5
    C) 2 : 3
    Explanation:

Let CP of one sold at 20% profit = x
    So 120/100 * x = 80/100 * (18,000-x)
    x = 7200
    7200 : 10800 = 2 : 3

  4. A and B start a business. A invests Rs 10,000 and B Rs 20,000. After 6 months, both invested Rs 20,000 more. Find the ratio in which their profits will be shared.
    A) 2 : 5
    B) 3 : 2
    C) 2 : 3
    D) 1 : 4
    E) 1 : 5
    C) 2 : 3
    Explanation:

    10000*6 + 30000*6 : 20000*6 + 40000*6

  5. Four years ago the ratio between the ages of Taani and Ananya was 4:5. The ratio between their present ages is 14:17. What will be Ananya’s age 5 years hence?
    A) 34 years
    B) 33 years
    C) 38 years
    D) 28 years
    E) None of these
    E) None of these
    Explanation:

    T/A = 14/17
    T-4/A-4 = 4/5
    Solve the equations

  6. The average of 5 numbers is 56.4. The average of first and second number is 53. The average of fourth and fifth number is 56. What is the third number?
    A) 63
    B) 64
    C) 67
    D) 68
    E) None of these
    B) 64
    Explanation:

    56.4*5 – [53*2 + 56 *2]

  7. What will be the compound interest accrued on a principal amount of 32,000 at the rate of 11 p.c.p.a after a period of 2 years?
    A) Rs. 7429.5
    B) Rs. 7423.5
    C) Rs. 7428.2
    D) Rs. 7427.2
    E) None of these
    D) Rs. 7427.2
    Explanation:

    CI = 32000 [(1+11/100)^2 – 1]

    D) 360
    Explanation:

    6!/2!

  9. A boat goes from point A to B upstream and returns back to point A. If the time of journey from A to B is twice that of from B to point A, then the ratio of speed of the boat in still water to the speed of the current is
    A) 1 : 3
    B) 3 : 1
    C) 2 : 1
    D) 4 : 1
    E) Cannot be determined
    B) 3 : 1
    Explanation:

    Use:
    B = [tu + td] / [tu – td] * R
    B = [2s+s] / [2s-s] * R
    B/R = 3/1

  10. There are 3 red balls, 4 blue balls and 5 white balls. 2 balls are chosen randomly. Find probability that atmost one ball is white.
