1. Sever – कठोर

Meaning – divide by cutting or slicing, especially suddenly and forcibly.

Synonyms –  discontinue, suspend; bring to an end, end, put an end to, terminate, stop, cease, conclude, dissolve

Usage – neither country has expressly severed diplomatic ties.

2. Tumult – कोलाहल

Meaning – a loud, confused noise, especially one caused by a large mass of people.

Synonyms – racket, uproar, commotion, ruckus, rumpus, hubbub, pandemonium, babel, bedlam, brouhaha, fracas, furore, melee, frenzy, ado; shouting, yelling, clamour, clangour; stramash.

Usage – she added her own voice to the tumult.

3. Brittle – नाज़ुक 

Meaning – hard but liable to break easily.

Synonyms – breakable, splintery, shatterable, fragile, frail, delicate, frangible; rigid, hard, crisp.

Usage – glass is a brittle material.

4. Baffle – चकरा देना

Meaning – totally bewilder or perplex.

Synonyms – perplex, puzzle, bewilder, mystify, bemuse, confuse, confound, nonplus, disconcert, throw, set someone thinking; informalflummox, discombobulate, faze, stump, beat.

Usage – an unexplained occurrence that baffled everyone.

 

6. Arraign – कलंक लगाना

Meaning – call or bring (someone) before a court to answer a criminal charge.

Synonyms – indict, prosecute, put on trial, bring to trial; denounce, sue, take to court, bring an action against, lay charges against, file charges against, prefer charges against, summons, cite; accuse of, charge with; impeach.

Usage – he was arraigned for murder.

7. Languid – निस्तेज

Meaning – (of a person, manner, or gesture) having or showing a disinclination for physical exertion or effort.

Synonyms – relaxed, unhurried, languorous, unenergetic, lacking in energy, slow, slow-moving; listless, lethargic, phlegmatic, torpid, sluggish, lazy, idle, slothful, inactive, indolent, lackadaisical, apathetic, indifferent.

Usage – “his languid demeanour irritated her”

8. Lassitude – अवसाद

Meaning – a state of physical or mental weariness; lack of energy.

Synonyms – she was overcome by lassitude and retired to bed

Usage – lethargy, listlessness, weariness, languor, sluggishness, enervation, tiredness, exhaustion, fatigue, sleepiness, drowsiness, torpor, torpidity, ennui, lifelessness, sloth, apathy.

9. Mollify –  शमन करना

Meaning – appease the anger or anxiety of (someone).

Synonyms – appease, placate, pacify, conciliate, humour, soothe, calm, calm down, still, quieten, propitiate

Usage – “nature reserves were set up around the power stations to mollify local conservationists”

10. Palliate – कम करना

Meaning – make (a disease or its symptoms) less severe without removing the cause.

Synonyms – alleviate, ease, relieve, soothe, take the edge off, assuage, allay, dull, soften, lessen, moderate, temper, mitigate, diminish, decrease, blunt, deaden, abate.

Usage – treatment works by palliating symptoms.
