     The Union Cabinet had approved Rs 44,605 crore for the KBLP project in December 2021.
     The Ken-Betwa Link Canal will have a length of 221 km including a 2-km tunnel which will transfer water from the Ken River to the Betwa river, both tributaries of the Yamuna.
     PM Modi inaugurated the Omkareshwar Floating Solar Project established at Omkareshwar in the Khandwa district of Madhya Pradesh.
     The project is aimed to reduce carbon emissions and contribute to the Government’s mission of net zero carbon emissions by 2070.
     Atal Gram Sushasan buildings will play an important role in the practical application of work, better administrative functions and efficient conduct of responsibilities of Gram Panchayats for good governance at the local level.

     The project, with a total cost of Rs 1.16 crore, is funded by a Rs 59.81 lakh subsidy under the Pradhan Mantri Surya Ghar Muft Bijli Yojana, along with Rs 20.52 lakh in public contributions and Rs 35.67 lakh in Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) support.
     The scheme, launched in February 2024, aims to provide free electricity to one crore households in India that install rooftop solar units, offering 300 units of free electricity per month.
     The scheme has an outlay of Rs 75,021 crore and is to be implemented till FY 2026-27. The scheme will be implemented by a National programme Implementation Agency (NPIA) at the National level and by the State Implementation Agencies (SIAs) at the state level.

     The report showed that the combined net profit of the non-life insurance sector was Rs 10,119 crore in FY24 as against a net loss of Rs 2,566 crore in FY23.
     The report highlighted that the life insurance paid total benefits of Rs 5.77 trillion in FY24, accounting 70.22% of the net premium.

     This move of allowing ITFS to operate in IFSC will help in bridging the financing gap for exporters and importers both in India and globally.
     The new framework has rationalized the net worth requirements and allowed the overseas companies to factor the receivables.
     The new framework has introduced a procedure for grant of provisional registration, a process involved in refusal, revocation or surrender of registration. Also, the process of registration for eligible entities can be done through an “on-tap” basis.
     ITFS platforms can now provide clearing and settlement of funds by registering themselves as payment system operators under the IFSCA (Payment and Settlement Systems) Regulations, 2024.
     Now, the revised framework has expanded the scope of eligible financiers, by including factors registered under the Factoring Registration Act, 2011, and finance companies/units registered in IFSC allowed by the authority to undertake lending or factoring activities.
     IFSCA has clarified that though the list of financiers eligible to participate on the platform has been expanded, it is ensured these financiers are incorporated in a Financial Action Task Force (FATF) compliant jurisdiction and they have requisite experience of managing assets worth USD 5 million.      As per the report, fresh new employment creation in the unincorporated non-agricultural sector slowed in October 2023 to September 2024 period, with additional job generation declining to 10.97 million compared to 11.74 million in October 2022- September 2023.
     The number of new establishments in the unincorporated non-agricultural sector has increased from 5.34 million during 2022-23 to 8.35 million in 2023-24.
     The report highlighted that the total number of unincorporated establishments increased significantly from 65 million (in 2022-23) to 73.4 million (in 2023-24), registering a growth of 12.84%.
     Also, the number of establishments in the “Other Services” sector which includes activities like transportation, communication, real estate and finance, among others, registered a growth of 23.55% followed by a 13% increase recorded by the manufacturing sector.
     The number of workers employed in the sector has increased from 109.6 million between October 2022-September 2023 to 120.6 million between October 2023 and September 2024.
     The report also showed Gross Value Added (GVA) by the unincorporated non-agricultural sector, increased by 16.52% from Rs 15.42 trillion (in October 2022-September 2023 ) to Rs 17.97 trillion (in October 2023-September 2024).
     Also, average emolument per hired worker increased  by 13%, to Rs 1.41 lakh in 2023-24 from Rs 1.24 lakh in 2022-23, indicating improvement in wage signals. Click here to read more.

     In 2013, he received the J C Daniel Award for lifetime achievement in Malayalam cinema and he was honoured with the inaugural Kerala Jyothi Award, the highest civilian honour from the Kerala government in 2022.
