Japanese two-wheeler manufacturer and World’s largest motorcycle manufacturer, Honda Motorcycle and Scooter India is planning to invest Rs.4000 crore to build a scooter manufacturing facility in Vithalapur, Gujarat.
The plant is going to be built on 250 acres and it will be operational by the end of 2015. The plant have an annual production capacity of 12 lakh units, making it the World’s largest ‘only scooter’ manufacturing facility.
With a presence in more than 40 countries globally, Honda’s worldwide two-wheeler sales volume was 17 million units in FY’2013-14. For the first time, India’s contribution crossed the 20% mark globally, making India the second largest contributor globally in FY’2013-14.
