United States President Barack Obama visited Hiroshima which was the first to be exploded with an Atom Bomb

  • Attended the two day summit of G7 leaders held at the Ise Shima National Park

Hiroshima Atom Bomb explosion:

  • 1,40,000 people died after U.S. troops dropped a nuclear bomb on Aug 6, 1945

Peace Park

Built at Epicenter of the Explosion and Peace Memorial Museum with the Genbaku Dome or Atomic Bomb Dome

  • The Museum is considered as a World Heritage Site
  • The park kept closed virtually all day for security reasons preventing access to the general public

  • Democrat Jimmy Carter made a visit in 1984 as ex-president
