The ratio between the rate of speed of travelling of Ajay and Bharath is 2:3 and therefore Ajay takes 20 minutes more than time taken by Bharath to reach a particular destination. If Ajay had walked at double the speed, how long would he have taken to cover the distance?

Correct

Answer – 4.30 minutes
Explanation :
Let Bharath and Ajay takes T minutes and (T + 20) minutes respectively.
Speed Inversely proportional to time, So time taken by Ajay and Bharath is
(T + 20) : T = 1/2 : 1/3 = 3 : 2
=> (T + 20)/T = 3/2
=> 2T + 40 = 3T
T = 40
Ajay takes (T + 20) = (40 + 20) = 60 min. If Ajay had walked at double the speed then the time taken by Ajay is 30 minutes.

Incorrect

Answer – 4.30 minutes
Explanation :
Let Bharath and Ajay takes T minutes and (T + 20) minutes respectively.
Speed Inversely proportional to time, So time taken by Ajay and Bharath is
(T + 20) : T = 1/2 : 1/3 = 3 : 2

T = 40
Ajay takes (T + 20) = (40 + 20) = 60 min. If Ajay had walked at double the speed then the time taken by Ajay is 30 minutes.

The length of a ground is four times its breath. A well measuring 400 square meters occupies one fourth of the total area of a ground. What is the length of the ground in meter.?

Correct

Answer – 5. 80
Explanation :
Area of the ground = (4 x 400) m²
= 1600 m²
Breadth = y meter
Length = 4y meter
Now area = 4y x y = 1600 m²
⇒ y² = 400 m²
⇒ y = 20 m
∴ Length of ground = 4y =80 m

Incorrect

Answer – 5. 80
Explanation :
Area of the ground = (4 x 400) m²
= 1600 m²
Breadth = y meter
Length = 4y meter
Now area = 4y x y = 1600 m²
⇒ y² = 400 m²
⇒ y = 20 m
∴ Length of ground = 4y =80 m
