Ashraf Ghani has replaced Hamid Karzai as the new Afghanistan President. Mr.Ghani was the finance minister from 2002-2004 under President Hamid Karzai government. He has also served as an academician and in the World Bank. The swearing ceremony which took place yesterday was after six months of turmoil relating to electoral fraud and recounting of votes.
This has been achieved after US government brokered a deal stating Mr.Ghani to share power with Abdullah Abdullah (Runner-up) who becomes chief executive in the government. Abdullah Abdullah has stood for afghan presidential election twice and lost.
This deal has been proclaimed as “US-orchestrated sham” by the Talibans.
