National Productivity Day - February 12 2022National Productivity Day is annually observed across India on February 12th to commemorate the formation of the National Productivity Council of India (NPC). 

The week following the National Productivity Day, 12th February to 18th February is annually observed as the Productivity week. 

  • The day aims to stimulate and promote productivity and quality awareness in all sectors in India. 

The observance of the National Productivity Day and Productivity week is organised by NPC.

The theme of the Productivity Week 2022(12th to 18th February 2022) is “Self Reliance Through Productivity”. The theme in Hindi isउत्पादकता के माध्यम से आत्म निर्भरता”.

Background:

National Productivity Council of India (NPC) was established and registered as an Autonomous Society under the Societies Registration Act 1860, under the Department for Promotion of Industry & Internal Trade(DPIIT), Ministry of Commerce and Industry(MoCI).  

National Productivity and Innovation Award (NPIA) Schemes.:

The National Productivity and Innovation Award (NPIA) Schemes aims to identify and bring forward innovative enterprises in Six Micro, Small & Medium Enterprises (MSME) sectors who introduced breakthrough changes in products, services, processes, and new methods of production through their

innovative actions.

National Productivity Council of India (NPC): 

The National Productivity Council of India (NPC) is a constituent of the Asian Productivity Organisation (APO), Tokyo, Japan, an Inter-Governmental Body. The government of India is a founding member of the APO.

Functions of NPC: 

i.NPC provides consultancy and training services to the government and public and private sector organizations in the areas of industrial engineering, agri-business, economic services, quality management, human resources management, information technology, technology management, energy management, environmental management and others. 

ii.It collaborates with its clients to offer solutions geared towards accelerating productivity, enhancing competitiveness, increasing profits, augmenting safety and reliability, and ensuring better quality.

iii.NPC also offers a reliable database for decision-making, improved systems and procedures, work culture, and customer satisfaction, both internal and external.
