1. Effete – अशक्त

Meaning – affected, over-refined, and ineffectual.

Usage – “effete trendies from art college”

Synonyms – affected, over-refined, ineffectual, artificial, studied, pretentious, precious, chichi, flowery, mannered; informaltwee, la-di-da, pseud; informalponcey, toffee-nosed; rarealembicated.

2. Arraign -कलंक लगाना

Meaning – call or bring (someone) before a court to answer a criminal charge.

Usage – “her sister was arraigned on charges of attempted murder”

Synonyms – indict, prosecute, put on trial, bring to trial; denounce, sue, take to court, bring an action against, lay charges against, file charges against, prefer charges against, summons, cite; accuse of, charge with; impeach.

3. Barge – बजरा

Meaning – move forcefully or roughly.

Usage – “we can’t just barge into a private garden”

Synonyms – push, shove, force, elbow, shoulder, jostle, bludgeon, bulldoze, muscle.

4. Debonair – ख़ुशमिज़ाज

Meaning – (of a man) confident, stylish, and charming.

Usage – “all the men looked debonair and handsome in white tie and tails”

5. Doyen – दल के उच्च सदस्य

Meaning – the most respected or prominent person in a particular field.

Usage – “he became the doyen of British physicists”

6. Dispel – दूर हो जाना

Meaning – make (a doubt, feeling, or belief) disappear.

Usage – “the brightness of the day did nothing to dispel Elaine’s dejection”

Synonyms – banish, eliminate, dismiss, chase away, drive away, drive off, get rid of, dissipate, disperse, scatter, disseminate; relieve, allay, ease, calm, quell, check.

7. Brook – छोटी नदी

Meaning – a small stream.

Usage – “the Lake District boasts lovely lakes and babbling brooks”

8. Behest – आज्ञा

Meaning – a person’s orders or command.

Usage – “they had assembled at his behest”

9. Cursory – सतही

Meaning – hasty and therefore not thorough or detailed.

Usage – “a cursory glance at the figures”

10. Hunch – कूबड़

Meaning – raise (one’s shoulders) and bend the top of one’s body forward.

Usage – “Eliot hunched his shoulders against a gust of snow”
