    • From 2015 to 2021, 13 million wildlife items were seized, indicating illegal trade involving around 4,000 species across 162 countries and territories.
    • Out of 4,000 species, approximately 3,250 are listed in the Convention on International Trade in Endangered Species of Wild Fauna and Flora (CITES) Appendices.
    • The most trafficked species were corals (16%), crocodilians (9%), and elephants (6%).
    • For the first time, an indicator on progress towards Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) target 15.7 was included to end trafficking of protected species of flora and fauna.
