- India’s merchandise export saw a contraction of 3% with USD 437 billion in FY24 (2023-24).

- India’s total exports stood at USD 788 billion in FY24.
Key Points:

ii.It highlighted some key sectors that can drive positive growth of exports such as: machinery, electrical and electronic, automobile, pharma, biotechnology, among others. These sectors will receive benefit from the Production-Linked Incentive(PLI) schemes.
iii.It mentioned that demand for credit has increased due to increase inflation, high commodity prices and significant increase in sea and freight prices.
- The sea freight prices has increased from USD 700 to USD 3,700 and the main reason for this increase is conflict in the Middle East region which prompted for longer voyage time on account of diversion of sea route from Red Sea to Cape of Good Hope.
