The National Productivity Day is annually observed across India on 12th February to create awareness about productivity, that maximum output with optimum utilization of resources can be planned and achieved. The day is organised by the National Productivity Council(NPC).
Objective:
i.To draw the attention of all concerned, towards the concept and encourage implementation of productivity tools and techniques with contemporary relevant themes
ii.To promote productivity, quality, competitiveness and efficiency consciousness
Background:
The National Productivity day on 12 February marks the formation of the NPC, an autonomous organization under the Department for Promotion of Industry & Internal Trade, Ministry of Commerce and Industry, Government of India.
The 7 days following the National Productive day will be observed as the National Productive Week (12th February to 18th February).
Events:
i.As a part of the National Productivity Day, The Northern Coalfields Limited (NCL) has inaugurated the National Productivity week.
ii.Industrial Engineering Department (IED) of NCL will be organising various awareness programs in all the coal projects and units during the national productivity week.
National Productivity Council(NPC):
i.NPC is a constituent of Tokyo based Asian productivity organisation(APO), an Inter-Governmental Body. Indian is the founding member of APO.
ii.NPC was established to undertake research in the area of productivity.
iii.NPC has also been providing consultancy on training services in Industrial engineering, Agri-Business, Economic Services, Quality Management, Human Resources Management, Information Technology, Technology Management, Energy Management, Environmental Management
