India’s first National Tribal Festival ‘VANAJ’ was concluded on 18 February 2015 in New Delhi. The week long festival was was inaugurated by the Jual Oram (Union Minister of Tribal Affairs) on 13 February 2015 at the Indira Gandhi National Center for Arts. The festival ended after a series of colorful presentations depicting the spring time tribal festivals of Phagu, Phagua and Phagun Parab.
The festival also show cased India’s unique Tribal culture, art, painting, music, dance, tribal medicine, tribal food, and a special attraction- tribal cuisine. More than 900 folk and tribal artists from many Indian states participated in it. A tribal market has been recreated for visitors to purchase rural crafts, herbs and medicines.
