MOHUA Joins Hands with Zomato to Take Street Food Vendors Online Under PMThe Ministry of Housing & Urban Affairs (MoHUA) has signed a Memorandum of Understanding(MoU) with Zomato to onboard street food vendors on its food-tech platform. This is part of Prime Minister Street Vendor’s AtmaNibhar Nidhi (PM SVANidhi) Scheme.

MoHUA launched the Mobile Application for PMSVANidhi se Samriddhi. This is an additional component of the scheme.

MoHUA Signs MoU with Zomato

Purpose of Partnership:

To enable street food vendors to have online access to many  consumers and also to help these vendors to grow their businesses.

Key People

i.The MoU was exchanged between  Sanjay Kumar, Joint Secretary, MoHUA and  Mohit Sardana, Chief Operating Officer, Zomato.

ii.The exchange was done in the presence of Durga Shanker Mishra, Secretary, MoHUA, and officials of Zomato and MoHUA.

iii.State Mission Directors of Deendayal Antyodaya Yojana-National Urban Livelihoods Mission (DAY-NULM), MoHUA from few states including Bihar, Chhattisgarh and  Mission Commissioners of Bhopal, Ludhiana, etc., participated in the ceremony virtually.

Provisions of MoU

i.As per the MoU, initially  MoHUA and Zomato will drive a pilot program by on-boarding 300 vendors across six cities namely – Bhopal, Ludhiana, Nagpur, Patna, Raipur, Vadodara.

ii.Assistance will be given to street vendors for PAN and fssai registration. They will also be given training on the usage of technology/ partner app, menu digitization and pricing, hygiene and packaging best practices.

iii.MoHUA and Zomato intend to expand this initiative across the country in hases, if the pilot project is successfully completed.

Mobile Application for PMSVANidhi se Samriddhi

Purpose: To assist Urban Local Bodies (ULBs)  field functionarie to conduct door to door data collection even without the need of internet connection.

Coverage: In the 1st phase, it will cover the PM SVANidhi beneficiaries and their household members in 125 cities till the duration of the scheme i.e. March 2022

Availability: It is available on Google Play store.

1st Batch– 1st batch of camps are ongoing in the select cities from 1st to 6th February 2021.

Data: Data collection has been completed for more than 95,000 beneficiaries along with their 50, 000 family members as on February 4, 2021.

What is PMSVANidhi se Samriddhi?

i.PMSVANidhi se Samriddhi is a program that enables Urban Local Bodies (ULBs) to conduct the socio-economic profiling of PM SVANidhi beneficiaries, assess their potential eligibility for various Central welfare schemes and facilitate the linkages to these schemes.

ii.The Quality Council of India, the implementing partner for this program partnered with MoHUA to develop this app.

Gist about PM SVANidhi Scheme

Launched- On June 1, 2020 by MoHUA

Funded– fully funded by MoHUA

Purpose– To provide working capital loan to street vendors to resume their livelihoods who have been affected by COVID-19 lockdown

Target– To benefit more than 50 lakh Street Vendors who had been vending on or before 24 March, 2020 in urban areas, including surrounding peri-urban/ rural areas.

Loan– A collateral free working capital loan of up to Rs. 10,000, of one year tenure

Repayment of loan

  • If the loan amount is repaid on time or early,  an interest subsidy at 7% per annum will be credited to the bank accounts of beneficiaries through Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT) on quarterly basis.
  • No penalty will be imposed on early  repayment of loan.

Cash-back incentives– Up toRs. 1,200 per annum.

Note: Under the scheme, over 36.40 lakh loan applications have been received as on February 4, 2020. Of the total, more than 18.80 lakh loans have been sanctioned and over 14.04 lakh loans disbursed.
