India and the United States held their first ever bilateral dialogue on the United Nations and multilateral issues in Washington. The dialogue was held in the spirit of the “Delhi Declaration of Friendship” to strengthen the relationship between the two countries.
According to the US state department, the bilateral dialogue focused on crucial topics such as
- International peace and security
- Peacekeeping operations
- Counter-piracy and the Post 2015, Development Agenda,
- UN Human Rights CouncilÂ
The Indian delegation was led by Vikas Swarup, Joint Secretary in Minister of External Affairs Ministry, whereas the US delegation was led by Sheba Crocker, Assistant Secretary of State for International Organization Affairs.
