Google India Launches ‘‘Make Small Strong’’ Campaign for Small Businesses; Partners with Zoho, Instamojo, Dunzo and Swiggy

Google India launches campaign to drive demand for small businessesOn September 30, 2020 In order to support small businesses and drive demand through customer support, Google India has launched a nation-wide campaign, ‘Make Small Strong’. It has entered into partnership with Zoho and Instamojo to help SMBs(Small and Medium Businesses) to build a digital presence. It has also partnered with Dunzo and Swiggy to expedite small businesses’ on-boarding process. 

Make Small Strong Campaign 

i.This campaign enables citizens to support small businesses by buying products locally, leaving reviews and ratings and promoting their favourite retailers on social media to help create demand for these businesses.

ii.This initiative builds on the “Grow with Google Small Business hub” effort. 

iii.It is based on feedback from SMBs as part of  Google-Kantar small business tracker research conducted in July.

To launch Namaste Digital in partnership with Doordarshan

In an effort to increase its outreach program, Google in partnership with Doordarshan will launch Namaste Digital. This serves as a mass media program to help SMBs learn about the Internet and grow their business.

Provisions under the Partnership

i.Zoho to launch a new initiative, ‘Build your business online with Zoho’ . 

  • It enables small businesses to use its website Zoho Sites, Zoho Inventory and Zoho Commerce free for 3 months,this is available till March 31, 2021.

ii.Instamojo offers a free subscription for 6 months to Instamojo’s Premium Online Store Solution to SME businesses till March 31, 2020

iii.The 24×7 Merchant support of Dunzo can be availed by SMBs for free with zero sign-up fees and instant registration.

iv.Swiggy offers a 7 days  ‘Fast track Onboarding’ for restaurants to come on the platform.

Other Initiatives of Google India

  • In order to help small businesses to learn to use digital tools in local Indian languages, Google India is investing in efforts to scale its outreach.
  • As a part of this effort, Google has worked with FICCI(The Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce & Industry) in order to drive an industry wide skilling program. The program has already trained 1.2 million individuals.

i.On 6th August 2020, Chief Minister of Maharashtra, Uddhav Thackeray announced the partnership with Google which will blend google’s learning programmes that integrate the classroom approach with online learning, over a virtual launch event. Maharashtra became the first state in India to collaborate with Google India for state-wide distribution of G suite for Education and Google Classroom.

ii.On 14th August 2020, Google in association with the Central Water Commission(CWC) of India launched the flood forecasting initiatives across India for the past several months. Central Water Commission is the first governmental partner of Google to measure water levels on an hourly basis using around 1000 stream gauges across India.
