Exercise Surya Kiran – The VIII India-Nepal Battalion level Combined Military Training, commenced on February 23rd at Integrated Army Training Centre, Saljhandi in Nepal. The opening ceremony was very impressive and begins with the unfurling of the National Flags of both countries. The Indian side was represented by an Infantry division from a Mountain Brigade and the Nepalese Contingent was represented by a Battalion from an Infantry Division of Nepalese Army. The Indian soldiers were welcomed by Major General Padam Villas Karki of Nepalese army.
The joint military exercise will continue for two weeks during which the military forces of both countries will hone their tactical and technical skills to deal with counter insurgency and terrorism.
The Indo-Nepal battalion forces were provided with advanced equipment for surveillance, tracking and closely monitoring activities across the borders. Both sides will engage in training, planning and executing a series of well developed combined tactical drills for neutralization of any kind of threats.
