Erythroderma, an inflammatory skin disease also known as ‘red man syndrome‘,that causes the skin over almost the entire body to become scaly and flake off. It is also called as Exfoliative dermatitis” or “Dermatitis exfoliativa“. Here the entire cutaneous surface of the skin is affected.
Ari Wibowo, a teenage boy in Indonesia has been suffering from this syndrome. He sheds his skin like a snake every 41 days and must constantly apply his body with moisturizer to stop it hardening and seizing up.
If he doesn’t smear with moisturizer, his body would harden like a sculpture as he could not move.
