1. Polemic – वाद-विवाद

Meaning – of or involving strongly critical or disputatious writing or speech

Usage – “a polemical essay”

Synonyms – critical, hostile, bitter, polemic, virulent, vitriolic, venomous, waspish, corrosive, biting, caustic, trenchant, cutting, acerbic, sardonic, sarcastic, scathing, acid, sharp, keen, tart, pungent, stinging, astringent, incisive, devastating, piercing.

2. Nostrum – रामबाण दवा

Meaning – a medicine prepared by an unqualified person, especially one that is not considered effective.

Usage – a charlatan who sells nostrums”

Synonyms – patent medicine, quack remedy, potion, elixir, panacea, cure-all, cure for all ills, universal remedy, sovereign remedy, wonder drug, magic bullet.

3. Esoteric – गुप्त

Meaning – intended for or likely to be understood by only a small number of people with a specialized knowledge or interest.

Usage – “esoteric philosophical debates”

Synonyms – abstruse, obscure, arcane, recherché, rarefied, recondite, abstract, difficult, hard, puzzling, perplexing, enigmatic, inscrutable, cryptic, Delphic; complex, complicated, involved, over/above one’s head, incomprehensible, opaque, unfathomable, impenetrable, mysterious, occult.

4. Onslaught – आक्रमण

Meaning – “a series of onslaughts on the citadel”

Usage – a fierce or destructive attack.

Synonyms – assault, attack, offensive, aggression, advance, charge, onrush, rush, storming, sortie, sally, raid, descent, incursion, invasion, foray, push, thrust, drive, blitz, bombardment, barrage, salvo, storm, volley, shower, torrent, broadside.

5. Jettison – गिट्टी गिराना

Meaning – throw or drop (something) from an aircraft or ship.

Usage – “six aircraft jettisoned their loads in the sea”

6. Fervor – उत्साह

Meaning – intense and passionate feeling.

Usage – “he talked with all the fervour of a new convert”

Synonyms – passion, ardour, intensity, zeal, vehemence, vehemency, emotion, warmth, sincerity, earnestness, avidness, avidity, eagerness, keenness, enthusiasm, excitement, animation, vigour, energy, fire, fieriness, heat, spirit, zest, appetite, hunger, urgency; dedication, devoutness, assiduity, commitment.

7. Irascible – गुस्सावर

Meaning – having or showing a tendency to be easily angered.

Usage – “an irascible and difficult man”

Synonyms – irritable, quick-tempered, short-tempered, bad-tempered, ill-tempered, hot-tempered, thin-skinned, snappy, snappish, tetchy, testy, touchy, edgy, crabby, waspish, dyspeptic; surly, cross, crusty, crabbed, grouchy, crotchety, cantankerous, curmudgeonly, ill-natured, ill-humoured, peevish, querulous, captious, fractious, bilious; informalnarky, prickly, ratty.

8. Grievous – दुखद

Meaning – (of something bad) very severe or serious.

Usage – “his death was a grievous blow”

Synonyms – serious, severe, grave, bad, critical, dreadful, terrible, awful; painful, agonizing, hurtful, afflicting, wounding, damaging, injurious; sharp, acute; peracute.

9. Fugitive – भगोड़ा

Meaning – person who has escaped from captivity or is in hiding.

Usage – “fugitives from justice”

Synonyms – escapee, escaper, runaway, deserter, refugee, renegade, absconder

10. Germane – उचित

Meaning – relevant to a subject under consideration.

Usage – “that is not germane to our theme”

Synonyms – relevant, pertinent, applicable, apposite, material; apropos, to the point, to the purpose, admissible; appropriate, apt, fitting, suitable, suited, proper, felicitous; connected, related, linked, akin, allied, analogous.
