1. Nettle – बिच्छू बूटी

Meaning – irritate or annoy (someone).

Synonyms – irritate, annoy, irk, gall, vex, anger, exasperate, infuriate, bother, provoke; upset, displease, offend, affront, get/put someone’s back up, disgruntle, rankle with, pique, needle, ruffle, get on someone’s nerves, try someone’s patience.

Usage – “‘I was only asking,’ Jess said, nettled”

2. Recluse – वैरागी

Meaning – a person who lives a solitary life and tends to avoid other people.

Synonyms – hermit, ascetic; monk, nun; marabout, santon; rareeremite, anchorite, anchoress, stylite, cenobite.

Usage – “she has turned into a virtual recluse”

3. Venial – क्षम्य

Meaning – denoting a sin that is not regarded as depriving the soul of divine grace.

Usage – “we cannot prevent ourselves sometimes from dreaming of performing venial if not mortal sins”

4. Gruff – कर्कश

Meaning – (of a voice) rough and low in pitch.

Synonyms – rough, hoarse, harsh, guttural, throaty, husky, croaking, rasping, raspy, gravelly, growly, growling; low, thick.

Usage – “she spoke with a gruff, masculine voice”

5. Entreat – विनती करना

Meaning – ask someone earnestly or anxiously to do something.

synonyms: implore, beseech, beg, plead with, supplicate, pray, ask, request; bid, enjoin, appeal to, call on, petition, solicit; exhort, urge, importune; datedcrave; rareimpetrate, obtest, obsecrate

Usage – “his friends entreated him not to go”

6. Canards – झूठी अफवाह

Meaning – an unfounded rumour or story.

Usage – “the old canard that LA is a cultural wasteland”

7. Disburse – चुकाना

Meaning – pay out (money from a fund).

Synonyms – pay out, lay out, spend, expend, dole out, hand out, part with, donate, give; informalfork out, shell out, dish out, lash out, cough up, splurge, blow.

Usage – “$67 million of the pledged aid had already been disbursed”

8. Dogma – हठधर्मिता

Meaning – a principle or set of principles laid down by an authority as incontrovertibly true.

Synonyms – teaching, belief, conviction, tenet, principle, ethic, precept, maxim, article of faith, canon, law, rule; creed, credo, code of belief, set of beliefs, set of principles, doctrine, ideology, orthodoxy.

Usage – “the dogmas of faith”

9. Rescind – रद्द कर देना

Meaning – revoke, cancel, or repeal (a law, order, or agreement).

Synonyms – revoke, repeal, cancel, reverse, abrogate, overturn, overrule, override, annul, nullify, declare null and void, make void, void, invalidate, render invalid, quash, abolish, set aside, countermand, retract, withdraw; vacate, avoid.

Usage – “the government eventually rescinded the directive”

10. Slake – आग बुझाना

Meaning – quench or satisfy (one’s thirst).

Synonyms – quench, satisfy, take the edge off, sate, satiate, relieve, assuage, gratify

Usage – slake your thirst with a citron press.
