1. Suman’s age was double that of Kareena’s 10 years ago. Ratio of the present ages of Kareena to Suman is 3 : 5. What will be Kareena’s age 5 years after?

Let the present ages of Kareena and Suman are 3x and 5x.
Then, 10 yrs ago, (5x-10) = 2 * (3x-10)
Solve, x = 10
So Kareena present age = 30, after 5 years = 35

2. 8 years ago, Bhanu’s age was four greater than Ravi’s age that time. Also the ratio of Ravi’s age to Bhanu’s 8 years after will be 6 : 7. Find the ratio of Ravi’s age to that of Bhanu’s age 4 years after.

Explanation:

Ravi = x, Bhanu = y
8 years ago, (x-8) + 4 = (y-8) . This gives x – y = -4
After 8 years, (x+8)/ (y+8) = 6/7. This gives 7x – 6y = -8
Solve both equations, x = 16, y = 20
So required ratio = (16+4) : (20+4) = 20 : 24 = 5 : 6

3. Ratio of Rani’s age to Sheena’s age was 5 : 8 four years ago. Sheena’s present age is 6 years greater than Rani’s age 6 years after. Find the ratio of the present ages of Sheena and Rani.

Let A’s present age = 5x, and B’s = 3x

Required ratio = (20+4) : (12-4)

8. The sum of ages of Sonu and Monu is 60 at present. Also Sonu’s age was five time that of Monu 6 years ago. What will be the age of Monu 5 years after?

Monu = x, Sonu = 60-x
60-x – 6 = 5*(x – 6)
solve, x = 14
monu’s 5 years after = x+5 = 19

9. Reema’s age will be 7/3 of Tina’s 6 years after. Also the ratio of their ages was 5 : 1, 10 years ago. What is Reema’s present age?
