Union Home Minister and Minister of Cooperation Minister Shri Amit Shah launches the digital portal of the Central Registrar of Cooperative Societies (CRCS) office in PuneOn August 6, 2023, Union Minister Amit Shah, Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) and Ministry of Cooperation, launched a digital portal of the Central Registrar of Cooperative Societies (CRCS) office in Pune, Maharashtra.

This launch is on the lines with Prime Minister(PM) Narendra Modiā€™s vision of ā€œSahkar se Samriddhiā€, strengthening cooperative movement in India, deepening its reach to the grassroots and to enhance the performance, productivity and profitability of cooperative societies.

  • The CRCS office, under the Ministry of Cooperation, is responsible for administering the Multi-State Co-operative Societies (MSCS) Act 2002. This portal will ease the functioning of over 1550 MSCS in India and promote a digital ecosystem for new registrations.

Objectives of Portal:

i.Promote ease of doing business in the cooperative sector and streamline processes

ii.Implementing completely paperless applications

iii.Enabling digital communication

iv.Improving analytics and management information system

Key Points:

i.ThisĀ portal will aid in the registration of new MSCS, simplifying their operations and creating a more efficient and transparent digital ecosystem.

ii.It will also incorporate recent amendments to the MSCS Act, 2002, ensuring automatic compliance with the updated rules.

iii.Using the portal, applications and service requests will be processed quickly through an electronic workflow.

It will have security features like OTP-based user registration and validation checks to ensure compliance with the MSCS Act and Rules.

  • Hearings will be conducted through video conferencing, and registration certificates will be issued electronically.

iv.The portal will have various modules for different tasks like registration, amendment of bye-laws, filing annual returns, handling appeals, conducting audits, inspections, inquiries, arbitrations, winding up, liquidation, ombudsman services, and elections.”

Note: For the development of this portal, a ā€˜Hackathonā€™ competition was organized to invite youth participation and ideas,Ā while feedback was gathered from National and MSCS.

It was attended by Chief Minister(CM) of Maharashtra, EknathĀ Shinde and Union Minister of State (MoS) B L Verma, Ministry of Cooperation, among others.
