Ministry of Jal Shakti sanctions Rs. 445 crores for implementation of Jal Jeevan Mission in Chhattisgarh during 2020-21
Ministry of Jal Shakti, a ministry under Government of India (GoI) has approved an amount of Rs 445 crore for the implementation of the Jal Jeevan Mission (JJM) in Chhattisgarh during 2020-21.
i.Under this mission that will bring change in life, Chhattisgarh state has planned 100 % Functional Household Tap Connection (FHTC) by 2023-24.

23 additional Minor Forest produce items in Minimum Support Price List announced: M/O of Tribal affairs
i.Ministry of (M/O) Tribal Affairs has notified an Inclusion of 23 additional Minor Forest Produce (MFP) items and stipulation of their Minimum Support Price (MSP) under the Central government sponsored Scheme(2011) titled “Mechanism for Marketing of MFP through MSP and development of value chain of MFP”.
ii.Of the 23 items some agricultural produce are not commercially grown in the North Eastern part of India but are grown in the wild in forests. Hence the specific items will be treated as MFP items for the North-East.

Finance Ministry appoints PR Jaishankar as MD of IIFCL
i.The Ministry of Finance appointed PR Jaishankar as the MD (Managing Director) of the India Infrastructure Finance Company Limited (IIFCL) for 3 years.
ii.The appointment comes after the recommendation of PS Jaishankar by the Bank Boards Bureau (BBB) on March 15, 2020.

Arun Singhal becomes new CEO of FSSAI
On May 29,2020, The Appointments Committee of the Cabinet (ACC), Government of India (GoI), has approved the appointment of Arun Singhal, a 1987-batch IAS (Indian Administrative Service officer) of Uttar Pradesh cadre, as chief executive officer (CEO) of Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI).
i.Mr Singhal, currently serving as Special Secretary in the Department of Health and Family Welfare, will succeed GSG Ayyangar who was briefly appointed to the post.

Irrawaddy Dolphin population at Odisha ‘s Chilika lake increased with the help of IIT Madras’ dredging methodology
A research project undertaken by the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Madras, has helped triple the number of Irrawaddy dolphins in Odisha’s Chilika lake, asia’s largest natural water reservoir.
i.The project involved the excavation (loosening or dislodging) of unwanted substances from the foothills without damaging the lake’s ecosystem, removing the loosened material to the dredge vessel & transportation of the material to the placement area.

Indian long distance runner Kiranjeet Kaur handed 4 year ban for violation of anti-doping rule
The World Athletics anti-doping body handed a four year ban to 32 year old Kiranjeet Kaur, long-distance runner, for violation of anti-doping rule with the abuse of Enobosarm and its metabolite. The samples were tested in the World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA) accredited laboratory in Doha since the National Dope Testing laboratory is under suspension from the World Anti-Doping Agency.
