Snapdeal launches instant refund facility
- Online marketplace Snapdeal launched its instant refund facility to help its customers get refunds within one hour of receiving the returned products.
- The instant refund will be completed using Immediate Payments System (IMPS) transfers.100 per cent of customers using the Cash On Delivery facility will have access to IMPS 24/7 while bank holidays will have no impact on this service either.

India votes to raise Palestine, Vatican flags at UN
- India was among 119 nations that voted in support of a UN General Assembly resolution granting the right to non-member observer States of Palestine.
- Vatican to raise their flags at the world body’s headquarters along side the flags of UN member nations.
- A vote of 119 in favour to 8 against(Australia, Canada, Israel, Marshall Islands, Federated States of Micronesia, Palau, Tuvalu and the US), with 45 delegations abstaining.
- Palestine – observer state in 2012 and Vatican – non-member observer state since 1964.
Japan centenarian population hits record 60,000
- The number of people aged 100 and above has hit 60,000 in Japan in 2015, September.
- The population of centenarians is expected to reach 61,568 next week, of which 87 percent will be women.
- The country is also home to the world’s oldest man, Yasutaro Koide, who turned 112 years old in March.

3-day India Expo starts in Sri Lanka
- India Expo exhibition began in Sri Lanka aimed at exploring and expanding their base in the country.

Andhra Bank opens its 2600th branch in Hyderabad
- Managing Director and CEO Satish Kumar Kalra e-launched the 2600th branch at Yadgirigutta and the 3000th ATM at Sunshine Hospital in Secunderabad.
- Andhra Bank, has branch across 26 States and 3 Union Territories.
- 43 per cent of the branches are in semi-uban/rural areas and 231 of the branches are in unbanked rural centres. During the current fiscal, the bank added 100 branches and plans to add over 300 by March 2016.

Renowned water policy expert Ramaswamy R Iyer passes away
- Renowned water policy expert Ramaswamy R. Iyer passed away in New Delhi on Sep 9,2015 following a severe bout of viral fever.
About Ramaswamy R Iyer :
- Born in October 1929, in Thakkalai, Tamil Nadu. His last held position was that of an honorary research professor at the Centre for Policy Research.
- He was an officer of the Indian Audit and Accounts Service, and Secretary of Water Resources in the central government and was instrumental in drafting India’s first National Water Policy in 1987.

- This book on ‘Lady Mary Montagu’s Turkish Embassy Letters’ is a serious work diligently done and will become an open area for many scholars. He recalled that in 1968-69, when he was a young diplomat posted in Indian Embassy in Jeddah, there was no school for Indian students in Jeddah.
