Haryana Government included Deaflympics in its sports policy
- State Government of Haryana on 9 May 2015 included Deaflympics in its Sports Policy. It was included to enable Deaflympian medalists to get cash rewards, jobs and other benefits.
- Decision to this effect to include Deaflympics in sports policy was taken during a state cabinet meet chaired by Chief Minister Manohar Lal at Chandigarh.
- Deaflympics, previously known as World Games for the Deaf and International Games for the Deaf, is an event sanctioned by International Olympic Committee (IOC). Its participants are deaf athletes and they compete at an elite level.
Goa Government launched hot air balloon & amphibious vehicles
- State Government of Goa on 9 May 2015 launched hot air balloon and amphibious vehicles in the picturesque state of beaches. It was launched with an aim to add attractions to its tourism portfolio.
- The hot air balloon will help tourists to fly over the picturesque landscape, which will provide an aerial view of the popular tourist destinations.
- Amphibious vehicle, which can run on road and ply in waters, can operate across seven routes in five talukas of Goa.

North Korea successfully test-fired Submarine-Launched Ballistic Missile
- North Korea on 8 May 2015 successfully test-fired a newly developed Submarine-Launched Ballistic Missile (SLBM). The nation described the missile as a world level strategic weapon.
- The underwater ballistic missile that will meet the latest military science and technology requirements of the country was test-fired after Leader Kim Jong-Un gave the order to test-fire the missile.
Russia celebrates victory day
- Victory Day is Russia’s most important secular holiday, both commemorating the Soviet Union’s huge suffering in the war and highlighting Russia’s portrayal of itself as a force for peace and security.
- Chinese President Xi Jinping was the most prominent world leader to attend the Victory Day parade.
- Russia showed off new machines of war, including a highly sophisticated tank, in the annual Victory Day military parade through Red Square that marks the surrender of Nazi Germany and the Red Army’s key role in the defeat.

Indians win a silver and two bronze in Asian Youth Athletics
- Indians bagged one silver and two bronze on the opening day of the inaugural Asian Youth Athletics Championships.
- Ashish Bhalothia won a silver in boys shot put with a throw of 17.75m at the Qatar Sports Club stadium.
- Anumol Thampi (girls 3000m race) and Seema Sangwan (girls discus throw) won a bronze each. Thampi clocked 10:24.98 in her race while Seema threw the discus to a distance of 41.14m.
Sakshi, Lalita win bronze in Asian Wrestling Championship
- Sakshi Malik and Lalita bagged bronze medal in Women’s Freestyle 60kg and 55kg categories, respectively, even as Babita Kumari lost out on a third-place finish in 53kg division of the Senior Asian Wrestling championship in Doha.
- Lalita was defeated by North Korea’s Han Kum-ok 3-9 in the semifinal but she managed to settle for a bronze medal in the end in her category.
Yuki Bhambri wins doubles title
- Indian Davis Cupper Yuki Bhambri partnering Adrian Menendez-Maceiras of Spain clinched the doubles title with a 5-7, 6-3, 10-8 victory over second seeds Sergey Betov of Belarus and Mikhail Elgin of Russia in the $50,000 Challenger tennis tournament in Karshi, Uzbekistan
- It was Yuki’s fifth Challenger level doubles title overall and first of the current season. Last year, he had won two titles, and one each in 2012 and 2013.
