The 51st annual WEF Davos meeting to be held in January 2021 by the World Economic Forum (WEF). WEF to adopt a new twin-summit format by bringing together leaders from across the globe for an in-person and well as virtual dialogues with the theme: ‘The Great Reset’.
The announcement was made by Prince Charles of Wales and WEF Founder and Executive Klaus Schwab during a virtual meeting. This summit would be virtually open for everyone across the world with more than 400 global hubs, each of the hubs will have an open-house policy to integrate all interested citizens into the event making the WEF Annual Meeting open to everyone.
Note: In the main annual meeting, the WEF will also host a virtual series, The Great Reset Dialogues.
WEF annual meeting will be held every year at Davos,Switzerland.50th annual WEF meeting was held from January 21-24, 2020.
About WEF Davos summit: The gathering of the world’s rich and powerful global leaders from government, business and civil society, also stakeholders from around the world is held every year in the Swiss ski resort town.
Global Leaders outlook:
i.Acc. to WHO, United Nations Secretary-General Antonio Guterres – It is a wakeup call to this human tragedy due to the pandemic, this should allow us to build more equal, inclusive and sustainable economies and societies that are more resilient in the face of pandemics, climate change and the many other global changes we face.
ii.Statement by WEF founder Klaus said that there is a need to decarbonize the economy in the short window to bring our thinking and behaviour harmonious with nature.
Also to restore smart global cooperation structured to address the challenges of the next 50 years into an effective functioning system.
iii.There is a need to evolve our economic model and put people and the planet at the heart of global value creation, hence, our economy needs to be secured for the future, as stated by Prince Charles.
Note: The initiative of environmental, social and good governance measured as a part of corporate and governmental accountability needs implementation.
Why the initiative?
To have to move from short-term to long-term thinking of shareholder, from capitalism to stakeholder responsibility concerning the global health crisis and its longstanding ruptures in economies and societies, which, has created a social crisis that requires urgent attention.
