On February 26-28, 2021, the 5th Asia Economic Dialogue (AED) 2021 was virtually convened by the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA), India and Pune International Centre (PIC) on the theme “Post Covid-19 Global Trade and Finance Dynamics”.
- Its inaugural session was addressed by Union Minister Dr. Subrahmanyam Jaishankar, MEA on “Resilient Global Growth in a Post-Pandemic World”.
- The dialogue saw the discussions between COVID-19’s impact on trade and finance, on the world and on Asia as well as strategies to deal with this impact.
- The former Indian Ambassador to China, Pakistan and Bhutan, Mr. Gautam Bambawale is the Convenor of AED 2021.
Key Points:
–The Asia Economic Dialogue is a geoeconomics conference for industry representatives, financial and trade experts, policy analysts, students, and all international trade, global finance, and policy enthusiasts.
–Apart from India, the AED 2021 saw the participation of foreign ministers from 5 countries viz. Alan Ganoo (Mauritius), Marise Payne (Australia), Motegi Toshimitsu (Japan), Dr. Tandi Dorji (Bhutan), and Abdulla Shahid (Maldives).
