High-Speed Spanish Talgo Train initiated the experimental Run In India
Train Route: Between Bareilly and Moradabad in Uttar Pradesh
Train Speed: 115 km/hr
Motive: Innovative Plan of increasing the speed of the trains.
Spanish train Talgo put to the test in India for the first time.
Narayanasamy stakes claim to form government in Puducherry
i. Congress Legislature Party’s V. Narayanasamy called on the Lieutenant Governor Kiran Bedi on and betted claim to proceed to form the government in the Union Territory.
ii. In the recently concluded assembly elections Congress – DMK alliance has 17 members in the 30 member Territorial Assembly. PCC President Namassivayam will accompany Narayanasamy.
iii. He served as Rajya Sabha MP and was member of Lok Sabha from Puducherry constituency from 2009 to 2014.
Manohar Parrikar inaugurates second submarine assembly workshop in Mazgaon
i. Union Defence Minister Manohar Parrikar inaugurated a submarine assembly workshop (Mazagon Dock Limited) in Mazagaon, Mumbai. It was built at a cost of 153 crore rupees.
ii. Presently MDL is constructing six Scorpene class of submarines for the Indian Navy, with around 35% of indigenization.
iii. The Workshop is a pre-engineered building structure to handle construction of multiple submarines simultaneously. It is built to assemble five submarines in the workshop at the same time.
iv. The workshop has features like rain water harvesting, sewage treatment plan, grey water treatment plant, oily water separator plant for treatment of sewage, grey water and oily water in turn, with zero discharge into the municipal drains.

Indian Economy May See 7.8% Growth In FY17: Credit Suisse report
Credit Suisse report stated that Indian economy is expected a growth of 7.8 per cent in the current fiscal year due to improvement in agriculture and private consumption.
Swiss Financial Major: First Six months of 2016-17, growth will be increasing at current levels, the improvement is take place in the second half of year.
Growth Forecast: Credit Suisse expected that growth to improve to 7.8% in current fiscal from 7.5%

Modi’s mother given Nari Jagran Samman 2016 award
i. Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s mother Heeraben was presented with the Nari Jagran Samman –2016 award by the Nari Jagran magazine in Varanasi.
ii. Nari Jagran magazine’s editor Meena Chaubey and another member Ashok Chaurasia presented the award to Mr. Somabhai who is the elder brother of Modi received the award on behalf of his mother as she has difficulty in travelling.

Vice Admiral Girish Luthra Takes Over Western Naval Command
i. Vice Admiral Girish Luthra assumed office of Mumbai based Western Naval Command as Flag Officer Commanding-in-Chief from Vice Admiral Sunil Lanba at a ceremonial parade held at INS Shikra.
ii. Indian Navy’s Vice Admiral Sunil Lanba will take over as the Chief of Naval Staff.
iii. He complimented the personnel of the command who, notwithstanding the makes of the service, have worked with synergy and solidarity in make sure that ships, submarines and aricrafts are sustained in a high state of combat promptness at all times.
Madhavan becomes goodwill ambassador for LEPRA India
i. Bollywood Actor R Madhavan appointed as the goodwill ambassador for the the LEPRA India organisation that fights against diseases.
ii. Telangana based non-government organisation LEPRA India is working in the fields of leprosy, tuberculosis, malaria, HIV or AIDS and community health.
Actor R Madhavan:
♦ The Actor has been appearing in films from seven different languages.
♦ Earlier in 2015, online market place Snapdeal signed on Aamir Khan and Madhavan to be the company’s ambassadors.
Ashok Leyland re-appoints Vinod K Dasari as Managing Director for five years
i. Hinduja Group’s Ashok Leyland has approved the re-appointment of Vinod K Dasari as Managing Director of the company for 5 years with the effective from April 1 this year.
ii. The second largest manufacturer of commercial vehicles maker came to this decision as the Board of Directors has approved the re-appointment of Dasari as Managing Director for a term of five years.
iii. The re-appointment will be valid after the approval of shareholders at the forthcoming annual general meeting.

Sunrisers Beat RCB By 8 Runs To Win IPL Trophy
i. Sunrisers Hyderabad beat Royal Challengers Bangalore by eight runs to win their maiden Vivo-Indian Premier League title in the title clash held at Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bangalore.
ii. Soon after winning the toss the Sunrises skipper David Warner elected to bat and accumulated 208 by losing 7 wickets and in the second half of the match RCB has lost by 8 runs.
iii. The Australian All-rounder Ben Cutting was adjudged as the Player of the match for his all-round display in the high octane game taking 2/35 in the limited four overs.

Hamilton wins Monaco Grand Prix
i. UK man Lewis Hamilton took a superb victory in a Monaco Grand Prix to re-ignite his title campaign as he has his first win of the season
ii. Hamilton’s first win this year cut his deficit to Mercedes team-mate Nico Rosberg, who finished seventh, to 24 points.
iii. The British man benefited from a slow pit stop for Ricciardo but also from his own call to delay a tyre change on a drying track until he could go straight to slick tyres.

OBITUARY
Actor Suresh Chatwal passes away in Mumbai
i. Eminent film and television actor Suresh Chatwal has passed away after prolonged illness in Mumbai.
ii. The actor was known for his popular show FIR on Television who also played many roles in films and he was last seen on the big screen in Nakshatra in 2010.
iii. He started his acting career in the year 1969 with Rakhi Rakhi and was seen in films like Karan Arjun, Koyla and Munna Bhai MBBS.
