Now the exam is over. No exam taker could predict that this is what SBI going to do in its PO Main exam. But yes SBI already gave the warning when it announced its package in its notification this year.
All of the people who took exam reported that it was of CAT level. SBI not only changed the pattern, it changed the pattern of questions also. SBI introduced various new type of questions. But it was all mind game.
Lets see the detailed analysis of the topics asked.
Reasoning is all about mind. It is a mind game. So all people who know how to use their mind in right direction or all those have that intellectual mind can easily solve as many questions in reasoning section. SBI introduced many new type of questions this time only to check that how many students have that thinking approach. What will they do if they vet stuck in any conditions. How their mind will take the decision of doing the things the right way.
Next came the GA section. As SBI wrote in its notification that the section will be related to General Awareness about banking and economy. It asked the same questions. You can read all 40 questions that were asked in the exam. Almost all the questions were covered in AC’s SBI PO Main capsule.
Next came the English Language section. Yes this was very difficult section. Instead of word fillers, SBI introduced sentence fillers. Instead of rearrangements, it introduced some other type of questions. Instead of synonyms/antonyms in the Reading Comprehension, SBI gave direct questions on synonyms/antonyms.
Last came the Quant section. In the syllabus, only Data Interpretation was present. But like last year, SBI gave some other questions too like data sufficiency, and probability. This time Data Interpretation was not only data interpretation with large calculations. It contained all quant concepts. One DI was based on the concept of profit/loss/discount chapter.
What we can conclude from this analysis is that SBI this time wanted to absorb those people
- who can accept the challenges given,
- who do not get panic after seeing unfavorable circumstances,
- who can use their brains at right time and in right direction,
- who are right for SBI and for whom SBI is right.
Although all people reported the level to be CAT level, but many people managed to attempt good number of questions too.
And believe me it is necessary when you are working with India’s largest lender and soon to be counted in one of the World’s largest banks after the associate banks merger. Banking industry is facing many challenges today. SBI being one of the top banks of the country require that kind of expertise to deal with the situations effectively.
- The competition has so much increased now; with lots of people taking banking exams that mere basic preparation would not get a person through these examinations.
- Students have to plan and study accordingly now.
- A different approach to question solving is needed.
- The person who thinks out of box will make his way.
- So pack your bags now for the upcoming exams.
Many of you who attend the SBI PO Main exam might be upset that the Exam did not go that good as you expected. Please don’t be shattered.
