On 22nd March 2021, the World Water Day, Government of Denmark and the United Nations Office for Project Services (UNOPS) entered into a partnership to provide strategic technical support for implementing Jal Jeevan Mission (JJM) in Uttar Pradesh.
- 11 water-scarce districts of Bundelkhand & Vindhya regions of Uttar Pradesh will be assisted with scalable delivery models by UNOPS.
Objective- The cooperation will render technical support to provide tap water connection to every house.
i.UNOPS will assist in community mobilization, capacity building, training etc.
ii.All support will be provided as per the Operational Guidelines of JJM
iii.This comes as an outcome of Indo-Danish bilateral cooperation on achieving JJM’s goals.
About Jal Jeevan Mission (JJM):
Aim- To provide Functional Household Tap Connection(FHTC) in every rural household by 2024.
The scheme was launched in August 2019, under the Ministry of Jal Shakti, targeted to provide drinking water supply through mission mode.
Sustainable Development Goal – 6 (SDG-6)
India & the World is targeting to achieve the SDG-6, “Clean Water & Sanitation for All” by 2030.
