Superstar Salman Khan’s “Sultan” has won the best action movie award at the Shanghai International Film Festival (SIFF) on 24th of June 2017.

Key Notes:

“Sultan” became the first ever Bollywood film to win the award in the Jackie Chan Action Movie week section.

  • It focuses on a selection of the best in action, special effects, and performances by action stars from China and the Asia Pacific.
  • The movie is directed by Ali AabbasZafar, the movie also featured Anushka Sharma.
  • Prakash Gupta, Consulate General of India, Shanghai, accepted the award on behalf of Yash Raj Films.
  • The movie Sultan is aboutdesi, Indian wrestling and it’s raw power.

In 2016, the best action movie award had been given to “IP Man 3,” a cult Chinese action franchise that is popular worldwide.

The Shanghai International Film Festival is held in June every year.The 20th Shanghai International Film Festival will be held from Saturday June 17 to Monday June 26, 2017.

  • The film which is one of the first two long fiction films directed by a Director of Asian nationality is eligible to apply for this award.
  • The Prize for Best Film consists of a Trophy, a Certificate and a Premium of RMB 150,000.
  • The Prize for Best Director consists of a Trophy, a Certificate and a Premium of RMB 150,000.
  • The Prize for Best Actor consists of a Trophy, a Certificate and a Premium of RMB 50,000.
  • The Prize for Best Actress consists of a Trophy, a Certificate and a Premium of RMB 50,000.
  • The Prize for Best Cinematographer consists of a Trophy, a Certificate and a Premium of RMB 50,000.
  • The Prize for Best Script Writer consists of a Trophy, a Certificate and a Premium of RMB 50,000.
  • The minimum running time is 70 minutes.All films applying for ANTA must be completed in the country of origin after June 1, 2016.
  • All films and applicants must complete on-line registration at SIFF official website www.siff.com.
