Sikkim Chief Minister Pawan Kumar Chamling was conferred with the first Bhairon Singh Shekhawat Lifetime Achievement Honour in Public Service by President Pranab Mukherjee.

- He is also the longest standing Chief Minister in India having won the legislative assembly elections for 5 terms in a row.

Shekhawat was the vice-president between 2002 and 2007 and he was a visionary leader who cared for his people.
