BS Yediyurappa, Chief Minister of Karnataka announced that Karnataka will observe 18th June 2020, as “Mask Day” to create awareness to the general public on the importance of wearing a mask, using sanitisers, washing hands and maintaining social distancing against COVID-19.
Events on Mask Day:
i.The State government has organised a walk from Vidhana Soudha to Cubbon Park to create awareness.
ii.The march will be conducted at district, taluk, panchayat and ward levels following the national directives to control the spread of COVID-19 and not more than 50 people should assemble in one place.
iii.CM announced that around 50 celebrities including actors and sportsmen will participate in the walk.
iv.The Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike(BBMP) is working on creating awareness by making announcements and distributing pamphlets about COVID-19.
v.The State will impose a fine of Rs.200 on people who are not wearing masks in public places and actions will be taken on people ignoring the social distancing.
Other initiatives by Karnataka against COVID-19:
i.To identify the people who are prone to be affected by COVID-19, around 8000 task forces will be set up at booth level.
ii.The registration on the Seva Sindhu Portal with correct information such as contact number, destination address and mode of transport are made mandatory for all the people who travel to or through Karnataka.
iii.The Karnataka government in partnership with Cloudphysician developed Tele-ICU solution to manage patients with critical COVID-19 conditions using Intensive Electronic Medical Record(EMR), audio-visuals and alert systems.
