According to World Justice Project’s (WJP) report, India has been ranked 37 out of 102 countries in Government Transparency Index. The index measures the government’s openness based on the general public’s experiences and insights. India’s overall score is 0.57/1 and it is followed by Brazil, which is at the 38th place.
The WJP Open government index analyze four categories to measure government openness. They categories and the score of India are,
- Publicized laws and government data – 0.54
- Right to information – 0.50
- Civic participation – 0.65
- Complaint mechanisms – 0.58
The top three rankers in WJP Open Government Index 2015 are
- Sweden – First
- New Zealand – Second
- Norway – Third
The bottom three are
- Myanmar – 100th Rank
- Uzbekistan – 101st Rank
- Zimbabwe – 102nd Rank
The United Kingdom has been ranked at 8th position and the United States has been placed in the 11th position.
