Agra To Get Country’s First Vacuum-Based Sewer SystemAgra to get country’s first vacuum-based sewer systemThe city of Agra in Uttar Pradesh has become the first in India to adopt vacuum-based sewer. These vacuum sewers will be placed in public areas.
The maintenance and complete care of the sewers for up to five years will be done by the Netherlands company.

  • The vacuum sewer is expected to be deployed in Kochi Municipal Corporation in Kerala after a successful trial in Agra.

Key Points:
i.This technology is presently being employed in low-lying areas.
ii.Agra Smart City Ltd. has connected roughly 240 houses in the low-lying area near the Taj Mahal to a vacuum-based sewer system for Rs. 5 crores, where traditional sewer systems cannot be utilised.

  • In this area, 112 chambers have been built with Geographic Information System (GIS)-based sensors to help locate the chamber’s position and the problem.

iii. The sewer connection project is estimated to cost Rs. 100 crores.
iv.A 53-km sewer pipe has been installed, connecting 60,000 houses.

Finland’s Economic Affairs Minister Mika Lintila visited India to Promote Exports

The Finland Minister of Economic Affairs Mika Lintila visited India on April 16−21, 2022 to discuss cooperation in quantum technology, telecommunications technology, artificial intelligence and renewable energy. 

  • He was accompanied by Under Secretary Petri Peltonen, and Team Finland business delegation. 
  • It was his first visit to India.

Objectives of the Visit:
i.To promote the exports of Finnish companies
ii.To strengthen the image of Finland as an attractive destination for Indian companies, experts and tourists. 
India, Finland to establish Quantum Computing Virtual Network Centre 
Both nations decided to establish an Indo-Finnish Virtual Network Centre on Quantum Computing to boost innovative research and development projects to address their needs. Under this, Indian side has identified following three premier institutes for the Virtual Network Centre on Quantum Computing:
 i.IIT (Indian Institutes of Technology)-Madras (Tamil Nadu)
ii.IISER (Indian Institutes of Science Education and Research)-Pune (Maharashtra)
iii.C-DAC (Centre for Development of Advanced Computing)-Pune
Key Points:
i.This decision followed the Finnish Minister Mika Lintila meeting with India’s Union Minister Jitendra Singh, Ministry of Earth Sciences (MoES).
ii.Finnish companies expressed their interest to collaborate with India for Carbon-neutral technologies and enhance cooperation for Sustainability in Climate Change.
iii.The Department of Science and Technology (DST) has initiated several new mission mode programmes like electric vehicles, cyber physical system, quantum technologies, future manufacturing, green hydrogen fuel and sought joint collaboration with Finland.
iv.The Finnish Minister also invited India to explore the possibility of deeper cooperation in Finland’s Biobank project to mediate high quality human samples to medical research to promote development of new products and services that promote public health.

Points to be noted:
i.As per Indian government estimates, Finnish companies invested US$ 497 million between April, 2000 to December, 2019. 
ii.Within the EU (European Union), Finland ranks 12th among countries investing in India. More than 100 Finnish companies have operations in India,
iii.India and Finland are consultative members of the Antarctic Treaty. 

  • Finland will host Antarctic Treaty Consultative Meeting in 2023 and India will host in 2024.

The Prime Minister (PM) of Mauritius Pravind Kumar Jugnauth was on an official 8-day visit to India on April 17-24, 2022 to boost bilateral cooperation in a wide range of areas. He was invited by his Indian counterpart, PM Narendra Modi. 

  • He was accompanied by his wife Kobita Jugnauth and a high-level delegation. 
  • He participated in the ground-breaking ceremony for the WHO-Global Centre for Traditional Medicine in Jamnagar, Gujarat on April 19. Click Here to Read.

PM Narendra Modi launches Ayush Visa for Medical Tourists:
In a bid to boost medical tourism in India, PM Narendra Modi announced the launch of a special category of AYUSH visa for tourists, who want to visit India for medical treatment or tourism.

  • This launch is a part of the government’s Heal In India campaign to promote medical tourism in India. 
  • In this regard, the Central government will also launch a special AYUSH mark to provide authenticity to locally-made Ayush products.
  • The announcement was made during the Global AYUSH Investment and Innovation Summit 2022.

Key Points:
i.This special visa category will ease the visa process for foreign travelers/ medical tourists  seeking medical treatment in India.
ii.Ayush mark will assure global consumers high-quality assured AYUSH products.
iii.There will also be setting up of an AYUSH Park, wherein AYUSH products will be manufactured.
iv.AYUSH stands for Ayurveda, Yoga, Naturopathy, Unani, Siddha and Homeopathy
PM Modi Narendra holds meeting with Mauritius PM:
A bilateral meeting was held between the PMs Narendra Modi and Pravind Kumar Jugnauth for deepening cooperation between India and Mauritius across different sectors. The Mauritius PM acknowledge India as the ‘Pharmacy of World’.
Points to be noted:
i.In January 2022, both PMs inaugurated a $45-million social housing project with 956 units and launched work on a solar power plant and a civil service college to be built with Indian aid of more than $500 million.
ii.In March 2022, Mauritius formally became a member of the Colombo Security Conclave, a grouping of India, Sri Lanka and the Maldives.

PM Modi Launched India’s First Dairy Community Radio ‘Dudh Vani’PM Modi launched India’s first dairy community radio Dudh VaniPrime Minister (PM) Narendra Modi inaugurated India’s first Community Radio Station (CRS), ‘Dudh Vani’, dedicated to animal husbandry, during his three-day visit to Gujarat from April 18–20, 2022.

  • It was established to assist farmers with important scientific information on agriculture and animal husbandry.

In addition, the Prime Minister has also dedicated the nation with,

  • An organic manure and biogas plant at Dama, Gujarat.
  • Laid the foundation stone of four gobar gas plants in Gujarat with a 100-tonne capacity at Khimana, Ratanpura – Bhildi, Radhanpur, and Thawar.

About Dudh Vani:
i.It is established by the Banaskantha District Cooperative Milk Producers’ Union Ltd (Banas Dairy), Palanpur, Guajarat.

  • The Banas Dairy Community Radio Station (Dudh Vani – 90.4 FM) will connect over 5 lakh dairy farmers across 1,700 villages in Gujarat.

ii.The dairy complex would have the capacity to process around 30 lakh litres of milk per day, as well as produce 80 tonnes of butter, one lakh litres of ice cream, 20 tonnes of condensed milk (Khoya), and 6 tonnes of chocolate per day.
iii. It is to be noted that, the National Dairy Development Board (NDDB), the premier dairy development organisation, has launched a bi-weekly podcast series dedicated to dairy farmers in cooperation with All India Radio.
Note: The establishment of Dudh Vani is the first such initiative for dairy farmers in India, which is the world’s largest milk producing country.

Total enrolment in APY scheme crossed 4.01 crore as on March 2022

In accordance with the Ministry of Finance, as on March 2022, the  total enrollments under the Central Government’s retirement benefits scheme Atal Pension Yojana (APY) have crossed 4.01 crore out of which more than 99 lakh APY accounts were opened during FY 2021-22.

  • Atal Pension Yojana is the guaranteed pension scheme of Government of India administered by Pension Fund Regulatory and Development Authority (PFRDA). The scheme allows any Citizen of India between the age group of 18-40 years to join through the bank or post office branches where one has the savings bank account.
  • Under the scheme, a subscriber would receive a minimum guaranteed pension of Rs.1000 to Rs. 5000 per month from the age of 60 years, depending upon his contribution. The same pension would be paid to the spouse of the subscriber after the demise of subscriber and on demise of both the subscriber and spouse, the pension wealth as accumulated till age 60 of the subscriber would be returned back to the nominee.

MEA Launches Growth Model to Counter China’s BRI

The Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) has recently launched a platform called the Trilateral Development Cooperation (TDC) Fund, which will bring together private and public sectors with state support for large-scale investments in the Indo-Pacific region (which includes the tropical waters of the Indian Ocean, the western and central Pacific Oceans, and the seas connecting the two in the general area of Indonesia) and other geographies.
It is aimed at providing an alternative to the Chinese development partnership model, the Belt-Road Initiative (BRI), that has pushed parts of the developing world to a debt trap.
Background:
Boris Johnson, the Prime Minister of the United Kingdom (UK), visited India on April 21-22, 2022, at the invitation of India’s Prime Minister Narendra Modi. It is his first trip to India as Prime Minister of the United Kingdom.
Both leaders appreciated the finalisation of the implementation arrangements for the India-UK Global Innovation Partnership (GIP) in the field of trilateral development cooperation (TDC).
About India-UK Global Innovation Partnership (GIP):
i.The GIP will serve as a model for using the TDC Fund in trilateral projects with other countries interested in collaborating with India in the innovation and development sectors, such as Japan, Germany, France, and the EU.
ii.In this partnership, India and the United Kingdom will co-finance up to USD 100 million over 14 years to support the transfer and scale-up of climate-smart inclusive innovations from India to third countries in Asia, Africa, and the Indo-Pacific, thereby accelerating the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals.
iii. GIP will establish an online “E-Bazzar” platform to connect and collaborate with multiple stakeholders in the innovation ecosystem.
Significance of GIP & TDC Fund:
i.India intends to use the TDC Fund to contribute to the GIP, which will globalise Indian start-ups and innovations by providing grants, development capital investment, and technical assistance.
ii.TDC will be a viable alternative to China’s development partnership model (Belt-Road Initiative (BRI)), which has increased Chinese influence over India’s neighbours while pushing them into debt traps.
NOTE:
China’s Belt-Road Initiative (BRI) is a global infrastructure development initiative that has become the centrepiece of Chinese President Xi Jinping’s foreign policy.
China’s debt trap: China has been rushing to deepen its influence and economic weight over India’s neighbours, including Nepal, Bangladesh, Mauritius, Myanmar, and Sri Lanka, by investing in infrastructure development.

India Registered 5.9 Percent Growth In Steel Production During January to March, 2022

As per the data released by World Steel Association (WSA) on April 22, India has produced 31.9 Million Tonnes (MT) of steel from the month of January to March, 2022 with a growth of 5.9 percent. Where China and Japan’s growth rate went down to 10.5 percent and 2.9 percent respectively. 

  • India is the only country among top 10 steel producing nations of the world, which has registered growth in steel production in January to March period
  • In March alone, steel production of India stood at 10.9 MT with 4.4 percent growth rate. 
  • Brazil is the only other country along with India, to be among the top 10 nations which registered growth in the month of March with 5.4 percent.
  • This growth will help India to reach the target of 500 million tonne production capacity in the next 25 years of Amritkaal.

Growth of India’s Steel Production:  
i.India produced 120 MT of crude steel during the financial year 2021-2022 and around 102 MT steel in 2020-21.
ii.So this shows the output was about 18 percent higher compared to the country’s production in the preceding fiscal year.

i.The Union Steel Ministry will host the National Metallurgist Award 2021 in New Delhi, India. 

  • It also recognises the outstanding contribution of metallurgists and engineers in the field of iron and steel sector covering the fields of manufacturing, Research and Development (R&D), design, education, waste-management, energy conservation and their specific contribution to achieve objectives of “Atmanirbhar Bharat”.

Jamtara Becomes Country’s First District With Library in Every Village

Jamtara in Jharkhand has become the first district in the country to have community libraries in all gram panchayats. The district has a total population of about eight lakh has a total of 118 gram panchayats under six blocks and each panchayat has a well-equipped library which is open for students from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Career counselling sessions and motivational classes are also held free of cost here. Derelict buildings were converted into libraries, funds received from Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) and under the 14th and 15th Finance Commission.

  • On November 13, 2020 the first district library was set up, with the assistance of Deputy Commissioner Faiz Aq Ahmed Mumtaz.

ICAI To Host 21st World Congress of Accountants For First Time In 118 Years

Institute of Chartered Accountants of India (ICAI) is set to host 21st World Congress of Accountants (WCOA), for the first time in 118 years of its existence. The event will be held from November 18, 2022 to 21 November 2022.The event will take place in the newly built Jio World Convention Centre in Mumbai, Maharashtra.

  • The theme this time would be `Building Trust Enabling Sustainability’.
  • The WCOA has been held every four years since it started in 1904.
  • ICAI president is Debashis Mitra.

Estonia hosts the world’s largest cyber exercise

 North Atlantic Treaty Organisation (NATO), Cooperative Cyber Defence Centre of Excellence (CCDCOE), is organising the Locked Shields 2022, the world’s largest and most complex annual international live-fire cyber defence exercise in Tallinn, Estonia’s capital. The cyber experts practice the protection of national civilian and military IT systems and critical infrastructure in a large-scale cyber-attack. It is conducted under conditions of intense pressure, with teams countering a series of sophisticated cyberattacks.

  • The fictional island country, Berylia is developed for realistic and challenging scenarios that consider the current security environment.

Fintech firm FinMapp has collaborated with Pune (Maharashtra)-based Bajaj Finance Limited to launch a Fixed Deposit (FD) feature on its application for an improved customer experience.

  • Bajaj Finance Limited is the lending arm of Bajaj Finserv Limited.

Key Points:
i.FinMapp offers an interest rate of 7.35% on the FD of app users.
ii.Investors can choose from multiple tenures for their FDs viz. 15, 18, 22, 30, 33, and 44 months, or can opt for tenures of one, three, and five years, respectively.
iii.Bajaj Finance is giving the highest interest rates to new, existing, and senior citizen customers, offering a fixed income product with high-interest rates.

L&T to collaborate with IIT Bombay to develop Green Hydrogen TechnologyL&T to collaborate with IIT Bombay to develop green hydrogen technology

On April 26, 2022, Larsen & Toubro (L&T) signed a pact with Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Bombay, Maharashtra to co-research and develop green hydrogen technology.
What is Green Hydrogen?
Hydrogen when produced through electrolysis process using renewable energy is known as Green Hydrogen which has no carbon footprint.
Key Points:
i.Under this partnership, L&T will utilize its engineering expertise, product scale-up and commercialization know-how, while IIT Bombay will use its cutting-edge research in hydrogen technologies and world-class technologists to develop indigenous globally-competitive technologies.
ii.It should be noted that India has its own ambitious target of becoming net zero by 2070.
iii.In February 2022, the Central Government has notified Green Hydrogen Policy to boost the production of green hydrogen and green ammonia to make India a global hub in this area.  

  • It will also provide energy security by reducing dependence on imports.

TA’ZIZ & RIL Signs Shareholder Agreement for TA’ZIZ EDC & PVC ProjectRIL, TA’ZIZ sign pact on EDC, PVC unit

Reliance Industries Limited(RIL) has signed a formal shareholder agreement for over USD 2 billion with Abu Dhabi Chemicals Derivatives Company RSC Limited (TA’ZIZ) for the joint venture, TA’ZIZ EDC & PVC project, a world-scale chemical production partnership at the TA’ZIZ Industrial Chemicals Zone in Ruwais, Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates(UAE). 

  • RIL is a strategic partner with Abu Dhabi National Oil Company (ADNOC) and ADQ, an Abu Dhabi-based investment and holding company, in TA’ZIZ EDC & PVC. 

Signatories: 
The joint venture terms were signed by Khaleefa Al Mheiri, Acting Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of TA’ZIZ and Kamal Nanavaty, President of Strategy and Business Development of RIL.
Note:
Dr. Sultan Al Jaber, Minister of Industry and Advanced Technology and ADNOC Managing Director and Group CEO and Mukesh Ambani, Chairman of RIL exchanged a signed framework agreement between ADNOC and Reliance to explore collaboration in the exploration, development and production of conventional and unconventional resources in Abu Dhabi. 
About TA’ZIZ EDC & PVC project:
i.TA’ZIZ EDC & PVC joint venture(JV) will construct and operate a Chlor-Alkali, Ethylene Dichloride (EDC) and Polyvinyl Chloride (PVC) production facility with a total investment of USD 2 billion (United Arab Emirates Dirham (AED) 7.34 billion). 
ii.These chemicals will be produced in the UAE for the first time, unlocking new revenue
streams and opportunities for local manufacturers to “Make it in the Emirates.”
iii.This project will enable the substitution of imports and the creation of new local value chains. 
iv.This will also meet the growing demands for these chemicals globally. 
v.The project makes progress toward the detailed design phase in advance of the Final Investment Decision (FID) which is expected to be taken in 2022.
Key Points:
TA’ZIZ comprises three zones, which are, Industrial Chemicals Zone; Light Industrial Zone and Industrial Services Zone. 
The Ta’ziz Industrial Chemical Zone projects are currently in the design phase with project start-up targeted in 2025.
RIL becomes 1st Indian Company to reach m-cap of Rs 19 lakh crore
On 27th April 2022, RIL became the 1st Indian company to reach the Rs 19 lakh crore market valuation mark. RIL has achieved the feat after market heavyweight stock increased 1.85% to its record high of Rs 2,827.10 on the BSE. 

  • According to BSE, following the gain in stock price, RIL’s market valuation increased to Rs 19,12,814 crore. 
  • Previously in March 2022, RIL’s market valuation had gone past Rs 18 lakh crore and in October 2021, its market valuation went past Rs 17 lakh crore mark.

Queen Elizabeth II, as the Head of the Commonwealth, has recognised Kishore Kumar Das, representing Bangladesh, as the 223rd Commonwealth Point of Light award in honour of his voluntary service through his ‘Bidyanondo’ a educational voluntary organisation, which has improved access to education for over 1,200 children from the marginalised backgrounds. 

  • ‘Points of Light’ is awarded to the outstanding individual volunteers – people who are making a change in their community.

About Bidyanondo:
i.Bidyanondo is a non-profit organisation, founded by Kishore Das in 2013. 
ii.It helps the poor community of Bangladesh and performs various social activities, the foundation started with only 22 students.
ii.It now runs five primary schools that are free to access, free academic coaching sessions and scholarship programmes to help children continue into Higher Education.
iii.It also introduced a meal programme, “Ek takay aahar” (Meal for one penny), which has provided more than 10,000 nutritious meals for vulnerable people, particularly children and those who are homeless.

i.The Commonwealth Points of Light is a continuation of the Prime Minister’s Points of Light programme, with a special series of awards recognising inspirational volunteers throughout the 54 Commonwealth nations, to coincide with the United Kingdom (UK) hosting the Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting (CHOGM) in London, UK in April 2018. 
ii.These awards have been made by The Queen Elizabeth II, as Head of the Commonwealth, to thank inspirational volunteers across the Commonwealth nations for the difference they are making in their communities and beyond.
iii.The Queen presents the award to one volunteer from each Commonwealth country every week.

The National Association of Software and Services Companies (NASSCOM), has appointed Krishnan Ramanujam, President, Enterprise Growth Group at Tata Consultancy Services (TCS), as its Chairperson for the period 2022-23

  • Krishnan will succeed Ms. Rekha M. Menon, Chairperson and Senior Managing Director of Accenture in India, who served as Chairperson of NASSCOM for the year 2021 – 2022.

NASSCOM also announced the appointment of Anant Maheshwari, President of Microsoft India as its Vice Chairperson for 2022-23. Maheshwari will take over the post from Ramanujam.

i.Krishnan has previously served as the Vice-Chairperson of NASSCOM.
ii.He has nearly 15 years of experience with TCS, where he has held various positions such as

Generali Asia has appointed Bruce de Broize as Managing Director(MD) and Chief Executive Officer(CEO) of Future Generali India Life Insurance (FGILI) backed by Generali and Future Group. Bruce de Broize takes over from Miranjit Mukherjee who has been serving as the interim CEO of Future Generali India Life Insurance since September 2021. 

  • He is currently serving as the Regional Head of Distribution, Asia in Generali. 
  • This appointment follows Generali’s move to consolidate its position in FGILI by completing the transaction to become its majority stakeholder. 

About Bruce de Broize:
i.Prior to joining Generali, Bruce de Broize served as the Regional Chief Distribution Officer for AXA Asia. 
ii.He has also worked in various senior distribution leadership roles with AIG and Allianz for several years. 
iii.He has around 3 decades of insurance experience in both Life and P&C insurance companies in South Africa, Australia, and Asia Pacific (in particular Korea, China, Taiwan, Japan and Hong Kong).

On April 24, 2022, The Belgian-Dutch racing driver Max Emilian Verstappen won the 3rd edition of Emilia Romagna Grand Prix 2022 over the Mexican racing driver Sergio Michel Pérez Mendoza in a Red Bull one-two Race, held at Autodromo Enzo e Dino Ferrari (Imola) circuit, Italy.
Key Points:
i.It was Verstappen’s second win after the Saudi Arabian Grand Prix 2022 held in March 2022.
ii.The Third Position was secured by British-Belgian racing driver Lando Norris competing with McLaren-Mercedes.

On April 24, 2022, The Indian Grandmaster (GM) Dommaraju Gukesh won the Group A of the Menorca Open chess tournament 2022 held at Ciutadella de Menorca, Spain. The Prize includes a cash reward of 1,600 Euros and a Trophy. 
Key Points:
i.Gukesh in the Final round defeated his compatriot GM Adhiban Baskaran with six points from seven rounds.
ii.Post the win Gukesh gained 13.4 ELO points and entered into the top 80 of the world rankings.
iii.The second place was secured by the Indian GM Aryan Chopra with 5.5 points, while the third spot was won by Armenian GM Shant Sargsyan.
iv.On total Indian GrandMaster’s have secured 7 spots in top 10 ranking of the Menorca Open chess tournament 2022.

World Immunization Week 2022 – April 24 to 30 World Immunization Week - April 24-30, 2022World Immunization Week is annually observed across the globe in the last week of April, to highlight the collective action needed and to promote the use of vaccines to protect people of all ages against disease.

  • The World Immunization Week 2022 is observed from 24th to 30th April 2022. 

The observance of the week is annually organised by the World Health Organisation(WHO). 

  • The theme of World Immunization Week 2022 is “Long Life for All”. 

The theme focuses on spreading the message that ‘Immunization is one of the world’s most successful and cost-effective health interventions.’
Background:
i.The vaccination week a global movement was first introduced in the Region of the Americas in 2003. It was later observed simultaneously in WHO’s six regions in April 2012, with the participation of more than 180 Member States, territories and areas. 
ii.The Sixty-fifth World Health Assembly(WHA) adopted the resolution WHA65.18 on 26th May 2012 which requested the Member states of WHA to designate the last week of April as World Immunization Week
About Immunization: 
i.Immunization is one of the most successful and cost-effective health interventions and prevents between 2 and 3 million deaths every year. 
ii.Immunization Agenda 2030 (IA2030)-A Global Strategy To Leave No One Behind, sets an ambitious, overarching global vision and strategy for vaccines and immunization for the decade 2021-2030. 

  • The strategy has been designed to respond to the interests of every country and aims to inspire and align the activities of the community, national, regional and global stakeholders towards achieving a world where everyone, everywhere fully benefits from vaccines for good health and well-being.

NHLML & RTDC H.P. Ltd inks MoU for Development of Ropeways in HPMoU signed between NHLML and RTDC for development of ropeways in HimachalOn April 26, 2022, The Ropeways and Rapid Transport System Development Corporation H.P. (Himachal Pradesh) Limited (RTDC) and National Highways Logistic Management Limited (NHLML) signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) for the development of seven ropeways projects for a total length of 57.1 Kilometre under Parvatmala Yojana at a total cost of Rs. 3,232 crore in Himachal Pradesh. 
i.The Initial phase will begin with the feasibility study of seven ropeways projects in Kangra, Kullu, Chamba, Sirmour and Bilaspur districts of HP.
Dignitaries Present:
i.The MoU was signed in the presence of Nitin Gadkari, Minister of Road Transport and Highways and Jai Ram Thakur Chief Minister of HP in New Delhi. 
Key Points:
i.The Seven Ropeways that are to be constructed are –
1.Palampur Thatri – Chhunja Glacier of length 13.5km with a cost of Rs. 605 Crore.
2.Shirgul Mahadev Temple to Chudhar ( District – Sirmour) of length 8 km with a cost of
Rs. 250 Crore.
3.Lunhu – Bandla (District – Bilaspur) of length 3 km with a cost of Rs. 150 Crore.
4.Himani to Chamunda (District – Kangra) of length 6.5 km with a cost of Rs. 289 Crore.
5.Bijli Mahadev Temple (District – Kullu) of length 3.2 km with a cost of Rs. 200 Crore.
6.Bharmour to Bharmani Mata Temple of length 2.5 km with a cost of Rs. 120 Crore.
7.Killar to Sacch Pass (District – Chamba) of length 20.4 km with a cost of Rs. 1618 
Crore.
About Parvatmala Yojana:
i.The National Ropeways Development Programme –Parvatmala was announced in the Union Budget 2022-23 to improve connectivity and provide ecologically sustainable transport in place of conventional roads in the hilly areas.
ii.Nodal Ministry – Ministry of Road Transport and Highways (MoRTH) responsible for the development of ropeway and alternative mobility solutions.
Note: In February 2021, the Government of India (Allocation of Business) Rules 1961 were amended, and enabled the MoRTH to look after the development of ropeway and Alternate Mobility Solutions.
