ii.The mission reused the winged body and flight systems such as without modification, from the LEX-02 mission, which showcased the robustness of ISRO’s capability of design reuse flight systems for various missions.
iii.Pushpak (RLV- Technology Demonstrator (TD)), the winged vehicle was lifted and released by an Indian Air Force (IAF) Chinook Helicopter at a 4.5 kilometer (km) altitude.
iv.After the release, Pushpa autonomously undertook manoeuvres to correct course and executed precise landing.
- The aerodynamic design of the vehicle i.e. low lift-to-drag ratio led to velocity of landing exceeded to 320 kilometer per hour (kmph), compared to 260 kmph for a commercial aircraft.
- After touchdown, the velocity of the vehicle was decelerated to about 100 kmph using its brake parachute, following which the landing gear brakes were used for deceleration and stop on the runaway.
