World Veterinary Day(WVD) is annually observed across the globe on the last Saturday of April to celebrate the importance and contribution of the Veterinarians and to promote animal health and welfare. The day also deals with issues associated with animal safety and the environment.
The observance of the World Veterinary Day is annually led by the World Veterinary Association(WVA).
World Veterinary Day 2022 falls on 30th April 2022.
- World Veterinary Day 2021 was observed on 24th April 2021.
- World Veterinary Day 2023 will be observed on 29th April 2023.
The theme of 2022 World Veterinary Day is “Strengthening Veterinary Resilience”.
- The 2022 theme was announced by the WVA and Health for Animals global animal health association.

Veterinarians play a vital role in major sectors of society like food security; the meat and dairy industry; poverty alleviation; scientific research; employment generation, etc.

The observance of World Veterinary Day was initiated by the World Veterinary Association (WVA).
In 2000, WVA decided to annually celebrate the last Saturday of April as World Veterinary Day.
