Skytrax’s World Airline Awards 2024 has honoured Indian airline Vistara (Tata SIA Airlines Limited) as the Best Airline in India / South Asia 2024. It receives the honour for the fourth consecutive time since 2021. Vistara is ranked 16th in the World’s Best Airline ranking and 8th in Asia’s Best Airlines ranking.
- Qatar Airways has been voted the World’s Best Airline for the 8th time. Singapore Airlines, which topped the 2023 list, is ranked 2nd followed by the Emirates at 3rd position.

Region-wise:
i.Singapore Airlines has topped among the Best Airlines in Asia in 2024, followed by ANA All Nippon Airways, Cathay Pacific Airways at 2nd and 3rd position respectively.
ii.Qatar Airways was named as the Best Airlines in the Middle East in 2024, followed by Emirates (UAE) and Abu Dhabi (UAE)-based Etihad Airways ranked at 2nd and 3rd position respectively.
iii.Ethiopian Airlines was named as the Best Airlines in Africa in 2024 for the 6th consecutive year and Turkish Airlines was named as the Best Airlines in the Europe region.
iv.Fiji Airways won the title for Best Airline in Australia and Pacific, and the United States of America (USA)-based Delta Air Lines was named the Best Airline in North America region.

Awards won by Vistara:
i.Vistara has won total 8 awards at the 2024 World Airline Awards. It has won the Best Business Class Airline in India and South Asia for the 3rd consecutive year.
ii.Vistara also won the “Best Economy Class in India and South Asia”, “Best Business Class Onboard Catering in India and South Asia”, “Best Economy Class Onboard Catering in India and South Asia” and “Cleanest Airline in India and South Asia”
iv.It has also received “Best Airline Staff Service in India and South Asia” award for the 6th time in a row.
Other Indian Airlines:
i.Air India won the “Most Improved Airline in Asia” award. It has improved it ranking from 103rd (in 2023) to 90th spot (in 2024) and entered the top 100 airline list.
ii.India’s largest airline in terms of market size, IndiGo dropped from 43rd spot (in 2023) to 52nd spot (in 2024).
About the Skytrax World Airline Awards:
i.The World Airline Awards is a non-profit section of Skytrax business, created to ensure an ethical and independent awards process.
ii.The award was started in 1999, when Skytrax launched its 1st global, annual airline customer satisfaction survey.
iii.It is also known as the “Oscars of the aviation industry”, which is decided through international customer voting.
Methodology:
i.It is the world’s largest, annual airline passenger satisfaction survey conducted by Skytrax.
ii.The survey saw the participation of more than 100 customer nationalities. Customers nominated their favourite airline and ranked their satisfaction from 1 to 5 scale, for different aspects of travel experience.
iii.It was based on the passenger satisfaction survey with 21.42 million entries from September 2023 to May 2024, and has covered over 350 airlines.
