As a part of Strategic Clean Energy Partnership (SCEP), the United States (US) department of energy along with its Indian counterpart launched a new public-private Hydrogen Task Force and Biofuels Task Force to expand the use of clean energy technologies for decarbonization of the energy sector.

US Support to India:
i.The US is committed to enhance Nationally Determined Contribution to reduce economy-wide greenhouse gas emissions by 50-52% below 2005 levels in 2030. It is also supporting India for the deployment of 450 GW (GigaWatt) of renewable energy capacity by 2030.
ii.The US Trade and Development Agency (USTDA) launched the US-India Climate Technologies Action Group (CTAG) which will integrate private and public-sector inputs on climate action initiatives.
iii.Over the last five years, USAID (United States Agency for International Development) contributed to the deployment of 5GW of renewable energy across India, which reduced 30 million tons of greenhouse gas emissions in 2020.
iv.It will also build 6 Westinghouse Electric Company AP-1000 nuclear reactors in Kovvada (Andhra Pradesh) which will provide clean, and reliable power.
v.US firm First Solar will invest 684 million dollars in a fully integrated solar module manufacturing facility in southern India.
- US firm 24M Technologies, Inc. also signed license and services agreement with Chennai-based Lucas TVS Ltd. to construct one of the first Giga factories in India using battery storage platform technology. The first plant will be set up near Chennai , Tamil Nadu.
