On 28th July 2020, The UK India Business Council (UKIBC) signed a memorandum of Understanding (MoU) over a virtual platform with the Industrial Extension Bureau (iNDEXTb), Industries and Mines Department, Government of Gujarat to speed up the business and industrial development process of Gujarat.
Neelam Rani, Managing Director of iNDEXTb and Kevin McCole, Managing Director of UKIBC signed the MoU.
Key people:
Peter Cook, Deputy High Commissioner, British Deputy High Commission, Ahmedabad, MK Das, Principal Secretary of Industries and Mines Department, Arti Kanwar, Resident Commissioner & Commissioner of Investment Promotion were present in the occasion.
Objective of MoU:
To enhance the business environment of Gujarat and to strengthen the collaboration of British business in Gujarat.
Features of MoU:
i.This collaboration between the countries and business and government will ensure the economic and social resilience.
ii.This partnership will strengthen the contribution of Gujarat towards the goals of Atmanirbhar Bharat.
iii.UKIBC will support the interaction (in the form of dialogue, ministerial meetings and other delegation visits) between the UK business and the government of Gujarat to provide direct feedback on the ease of doing business, market access and other issues from the businesses.
iv.UKIBC will increase the business confidence and operating environment for doing business.
Key Points:
i.The existing and evolving policies of Gujarat are the initiatives to attract investments for the development of the state.
ii.The partnership of UKIBC with Gujarat began in 2013 as the first partner organisation at Vibrant Gujarat.
iii.Recently HSBC announced their expansion into the Gujarat International Fin-Tech City(GIFT).
