On 11th April 2021, Capt Amarinder Singh, Chief Minister of Punjab announced the appointment of actor and philanthropist Sonu Sood as the brand ambassador of the anti-coronavirus vaccination programme of the government of Punjab.
- As the brand ambassador, Sonu Sood will be reaching out and promote the benefits of the covid-19 vaccination
- The popularity of Sonu Sood among the people will help to counter the reservations of the people regarding the vaccination.
Note: Sonu Sood presented his book “I am no Messiah” to the CM of Punjab.
Punjab’s Anti-COVID-19 Vaccination Drive:
i.The COVID-19 Vaccination Drive, one of the largest campaigns of Punjab aims to provide all with the required immunity to combat the pandemic.
ii.The government will ensure that all eligible people get the vaccination and continue to follow the safety protocols.
About Sonu Sood:
i.Sonu Sood hails from Moga, Punjab.
ii.He was well known for his negative roles in the films.
iii.He has supported to provide food and travel assistance to thousands of migrants who were stranded across India and helped them to reach their home states.
iv.He was hailed as a messiah for the migrants.

The Election Commision of India(ECI) approved the appointment of Sonu Sood as the State Icon of Punjab. The proposal for the appointment was made by S Karuna Raju, Punjab Chief Electoral Officer(CEO). Sonu Sood hails from the Moga district of Punjab.
