On June 5, 2020 Rajasthan Chief Minister(CM) Ashok Gehlot launched the Online Shramik Employment Exchange, ‘Raj Kaushal Portal’ developed by the department of Information and Technology(IT) and Rajasthan Skill & Livelihoods Development Corporation(RSLDC) through video conference.
Purpose of the portal
To ensure employment for migrant workers from other states and assure unemployed persons who are available to work in industries that face a labor shortage.
Major Highlights
i.Data- The portal consists of data of around 13 lakh migrant workers including registered building & other construction workers; those trained by RSDLC & Industrial Training Institutes(ITIs) who have returned from other states.
ii.Benefits-It helps to address the mismatch between demand & supply of workers in the state & the industrial units can increase their demands on the portal.
iii.Registration- Industries(employers) & labourers(Job seekers) can register on the exchange through E-mitra.
iv.By considering the demand of the usage of portal, it will also be introduced in the mobile applications
Note– Till now data of nearly 53 lakh workers (52.67 lakh) and 11.18 lakh employers (industries) have been uploaded on the portal.
Gist about RSLDC:
Rajasthan is the first State to establish a Mission on Livelihoods. Rajasthan Mission on Livelihood (RMoL) was created to address the challenges of unemployment and ensure gainful and sustainable employment to the youth of the state in September 2004.
Objective– To formulate appropriate and innovative strategies to promote and facilitate large scale livelihoods for the poor and vulnerable.
Key Points
RMoL was renamed as Rajasthan Mission on Skill and Livelihoods in 2009-10.
RSLDC was incorporated as Section 25 Company, a Not for Profit company, on 17th August, 2010.
